Aloha to Caridad Pineiro, THE CLAIMED, and HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS

We have a special guest at SOS Aloha - paranormal author and RITA nominee Caridad Pineiro! We recently chatted at the RT Booklovers' Convention - she asked me how she could support military families, particularly those of wounded warriors. I introduced her to Tamara, a Navy surgeon who was our guest last August (at this link). Together, we came up with a plan! Please join me in welcoming Caridad Pineiro!

We have many liberties in this Nation, but those liberties are due to the sacrifices of our military men, women and their families. I wish to honor the sacrifices that they make by remembering them and helping them in their time of need.

In THE LOST, I remembered them by having the heroine, Bobbie Carrera, be a wounded Marine veteran. I also dedicated the book to our military women, men and families.

For THE CLAIMED, I knew I had to do something more. Because of that desire to do more, a portion of my royalties for sales of my paranormal romance THE CLAIMED will be donated to HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS, an organization that seeks to enhance the quality of life for U.S. service members and their families who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. Also, if you’re one of the first fifty (50) to e-mail me with a proof of purchase of THE CLAIMED or proof of a donation to HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS, I’ll send you either a HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS pin or tote bag along with other swag.

From the HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS website,

On their own, our service members and their families are awe inspiring in the face of their disabilities and hardships - courageous and resolute. However, it is with the support of a grateful nation that they remain unfaltering in their determination and find hope and purpose beyond recovery. As a united support network, all individuals, whether of great or small means, can find an opportunity to honor those who have willingly sacrificed to defend and protect our freedom.

We hope you’ll consider helping out this worthy cause and assisting our military men, women and families in their time of need.

  1. The liberty I value most would have to be the ability to say what I want ( within reason)

  2. I have two that I value -- the right to bear arms and freedom of speech.

  3. Mahalo to you, Kim, and the other members of our military and their families for the sacrifices you make. God bless you and God bless America.

  4. I would have to say The Freedom of Speech. I like to be able to say whatever I want. I also like to be able to read and hear what I want. This is a new author for me and would love to win and read this book.

  5. Mm I would have to say "The freedom of speech" and "the freedom of religion". This is really great of you to do Caridad, and I really need to get The Claimed to keep up to date on the series.

  6. Definitely freedom of speech. I detest all forms of censorship, especially books!

  7. Why pick just one? I appreciate them all and the military who protects them!

  10. I appreciate the freedom of speech and the right to bear arms and I am especially thankful to our military men and women who protect them for us. Although Dorothy is right - we need to appreciate them all.

  11. I would say freedom of religion.

  12. I most highly value freedom of religion. And I am ashamed that our national government is systematically eroding one of the most basic liberties upon which our country was founded.

  13. The freedom of speech which gives all of us the right to speak, write and assemble. Rights which we must protect.

  14. I agree with Dorothy. I appreciate all our freedoms!

  16. I appreciate all of our freedoms but I also appreciate the safety and security of living in the United States, especially for my children. It is our liberties that will allow my children to follow their dreams and it is our military that will keep them safe as they follow their chosen path. Thank you to all of our service men and women.

  17. I am thankful for all liberties and only wish that the sacrifice by our military was better appreicated by the public.

  18. Thank you to all of the military men, women, and families that have made that sacrafice for me to enjoy all of the liberties that we have. If I have to choose one, it would be the right to bear arms. I am allowed to protect my loved ones just as the military does for me.
    Thank you!
    Mel

  19. Hi Caridad,

Very excited about this installment. BTW, the cover is absoluely delicious!

I enjoy all our freedoms but mostly the "pursuit of life, liberty and happiness" and that is worth fighting for.

  20. I appreciate the freedom of speech as long as we remember others have that freedom also.

  21. I appreciate all my freedoms, but mostly I support you idea to do this. My godchild's husband was killed in Iraq. He left a 40 year old widow and two daughters ages 10 and 13. His helo co-pilot left his new bride a widow. I know what these people go through. Thanks you for your support for them and the wounded warriors.

  22. I would have to agree with free speech since I can't imagine not being able to listen to opposing views.

  23. I have to say freedom of speech and also the right to bare arms.

  24. Thank you for helping our vets. My son was very proud to serve his country, unfortunately he lost his battle with war induced PTSD Jan 2, 2011. We lose a vet every 18 minutes to suicide, so I would have to say our right to obtain psychological care without the stigma often attached to it.

  25. Thank you all for coming by and my prayers are with those of you who have had a loss or injury to a loved one. I truly appreciate the sacrifices that have been made and continue to be made on a daily basis by our military men, women and families. God bless you all.

  26. I would have to go with freedom of speech, and the amendment that abolished slavery and involuntary servitude.

Thank you for introducing another new Author to me.

  27. I would have to say all our freedoms. I can't imagine not being able to say what I want to or to worship where and when I want to or to not be able to defend my family. They are all precious freedoms that have been earned by the precious blood of our military heroes.
