I "casted" Gina Robinson's THE SPY WHO LEFT ME for the big screen ... because the book is set on Maui!

Hawaii Food Bank was the winner of today's 10th Annual Spam Jam in Waikiki Beach at this link.

Finally, we are all winners when we celebrate Earth Day!  Elf posted a thoughtful reminder at this link.   I recall my English granny stashed "carrier bags" in her hall closet for daily trips to the local market as she did not have a refrigerator!   In celebration of Earth Day, and in memory of Granny Milly, I am giving a Hawaiian tote bag!   To enter the giveaway,

1.  Leave a comment about Spies, Mai Tais, and/or Spam Pies (that almost sounds like the CIA cookbook below).

2.  This giveaway is open to all readers.

3.  Comments are open through Saturday, May 5, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, May 6.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

I would just love to win a Hawaiian tote, this would be a super win.
I actually like Spam, we had it frequently when I was a kid.
Actually takes quite good with fried eggs and hash browns.
Thanks for the chance to win and have a great week.

  5. Congratulations to the winners. I haven't had a Mai Tais in a long time. I don't seem to go for the sweeter drinks like I did when I was younger lol. And I haven't had spam since I was a kid lol. And ask far as I know, I never knew any spies lol.

  7. Oh!Oh! I love tote bags, my mom has plenty of those that she personally makes. I think spies are cool, with their vast knowledge, awesome skills and great looks (oh yeah! it's really necessary since they get most of the girls :D)

  9. Congrats winners!!!!

I love spies. Sexy, dangerous and totally swoonworthy in a tuxedo. As for spam, it ate quite a bit when we were in Hawaii. And Portuguese sausage at Duke's breakfast buffet. lol.

  18. Many thanks, Kim.

Jill Marie Landis' MAI TAI ONE ON was a fun book.

In Rosamunde Pilcher's Coming Home, there's a description of carrying groceries home in those heavy baskets, as stores no longer had petrol to deliver. I recently gave a niece a grocery bag crocheted by my grandmother.

  19. Spam pies, ya know the only way I've eaten spam is sliced cold on a sandwich.

  21. I absolutely LOVED Jill Marie Landis' Mai Tai One On. Her characters are awesome. It's one of those books I've read a few times. I have Gina Robertson's Spy book ready to read on my desk.
Spam...oh the love-hate relationship. It tastes soooooo good. Then you read the label and/or listen to another news story about nitrates in deli meats. And, you put the can back down.
