Please join me in welcoming Linda Wisdom and Lynda Scott as they celebrate their new endeavour for Coliloquy's interactive ebooks. The "Lindas" collaborated to write GREAT ESCAPES - VALENTINE'S DAY.
Kim: Tell us about Coliloquy's interactive ebooks - what are they and how did you become involved?
Aimee (from Coliloquy): Coliloquy is a new digital publisher of interactive and serialized eBooks; you can find more information about the company and other books at www.coliloquy.com.
Linda: What I can understand about the concept is that it's choose your own scenes; as in love scenes, heat levels and the hero. This is all new to me and very fun to learn. What happened was that my agent contacted me saying Coliloquy was looking for interactive stories and asked if I had any. Ironically, Lynda and I had been talking about these erotica stories we'd worked together on a few years ago. I talked to Lynda asking if she'd be interested in submitting them and in no time our first story was up.
Lynda: Like Linda, I'm new to this technology
too. I'd seen some of the older paper versions of 'choose your own plot' style
books but what we have here is much more accessible. You don't choose the plot
per se, but you can customize some aspects -- for instance, you can customize
the hero's looks, the way he sounds, etc... based on some popular male archetypes.
You can also ratchet up or down the heat levels. Linda gave the nitty gritty.
Our agent offered the first story to Coliloquy and voila!
Kim: What are the challenges of writing the
"options" and writing with a partner?
Linda: Coliloquy has a great way for us to write
the options that allow us to work up choices for the readers. Lynda and I work
together very well. We've laughed, trying to remember how we started writing
them. It was probably a dare. Either way, we found the perfect way to write our
escapes. We're very much alike in personality even if we write different
genres. Obviously, we're a perfect match.
Lynda: For me, the challenge lies in changing
the hero. For example, our original hero had 'surfer boy' looks and was a total
doll, in my very opinionated opinion. Working on the customization took just
the right combination of language and personality to make the different hero
archetypes 'real' and still adorable. Working with Linda is a blast. She's
weird and funny and imaginative. We work in a 'round robin' style that is just
huge fun.
Kim: What are your
"great escapes"?
Linda: Hm, I'm
happy with a hot bath, a good book and a huge glass of wine. If I could have
the ultimate escape I'd be in Australia. But I'd even take Hawaii or New
Orleans.
Lynda: I love to get together with my
girlfriends for a day spent shopping/going to the theater. Not that we buy that
much but we chat and complain and laugh and get totally rejuvenated.
Kim: What's next for Linda Wisdom and Lynda K
Scott?
Linda: I have more witch books coming up along with
more of my backlist books available now at www.joyridebooks.com and more
coming. It's been fun seeing my older books being available again. If nothing
else, I'm doing my best to stay out of mischief. Not that it works. LOL!

Lynda: I've got a Futuristic Romance that is
looking for a good home and I'm working on a sequel to it, plus I'm working on
my own version of the ever popular End-of-the-World stories. And, of course,
Linda and I are working on future editions of Great Escapes. Our ghosts are on
a mission to help the lovelorn who come to the Great Escapes Bed &
Breakfast...in their own unique fashion.

I just like to have a nice cup of hot tea and good book.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting concept! I would like to escape my housework and stay in a four star hotel anywhere!
ReplyDeleteSue
I shut the phone off and pick up a good book!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting concept, but a book is an escape for me so I wouldn't want to work at choosing characters etc. sounds too much like work.

Go anyplace where I sit by the water and read a book.
ReplyDeleteI like to sit in a quite area and read. I live on a farm so most of the time I can sit in the yard or on my porch and just relax. A nice comfortable lawn chair and a good book. Maybe a little music and a nice cold drink.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.

Kim -
ReplyDeleteWhen Aimee said that Coliloquy published of interactive and serialized eBooks it took me back to when my older son was 8 or 9 and couldn't find books that were interesting or challenging enough to read. We finally found the Make Your Own Adventure books where at the end of each chapter you picked which scenerio would be next and went to the indicated chapter. His mother's friends were all thrilled when he got them all reading as well!
I actually read one myself (just to check on what exactly he was reading) and can remember thinking - now if they could only do that to the romance books I read! Glad to see that now wishes can come true! Pash on my thanks to Coliloquy for making it happen!
I try to escape every day by reading a great book but my "great escapes" are when my husband and I drive from New England to South Carolina to visit my three grandchildren and my son and daughter-in-law. On the drive down we take turns driving so we each have a chance to read (we take books as well as a Kindle packed with stories for each of us). My husband is also a history buff so to make it truly a great escape we both try to find a book whether romance, historical fiction or straight history based on somewhere we will be stopping to visit. After we stop in to absorb the history it give us a chance as we drive to discuss read and how it related to whre we stopped! Our last visit took us to Montpelier,VA and the home of James Madison and another time we went the long route to Nashville to visit Andrew Jackson's home The Hermitage (and got to listen to some great music at The Grand Old Opry as well!).
Great times reading to the grandchildre, great history, great hours spent talking about and reading our favorite books and authors! What more could you want for a great escape!
Is there any greater escape than a fantastic book? I've always said that if you wanted to please me, drop me off anywhere with a really good novel. It wouldn't matter if I was at a tropical resort or the frozen tundra - anywhere there's something good to be read is an escape for me. :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, choose your own adventure! I devoured those books as a kid, loved them. And now I can enjoy them as an adult, too? I love you guys!

I too have to say reading a good book. I totally forget about everything when I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a fun post and giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree w/ the others. For me, a "great escape" is a comfy chair, a good book and a cup of coffee :)
Totally loved the post ! For me my escape away from it all is definitely anywhere comfy like on my favourite couch,or out in the garden or by the pool with a good book in my hands ! I can be completely swept away to a new world with the right book!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice giveaway !
I, too, like to escape with a good book. Also, going to a bookstore and just looking (and sometimes buying) at books is great stress reliever!
ReplyDeleteVery nice interview. I like to go for a walk.
ReplyDeleteLiving in a house of 5 boys, a dog, and a husband, I most definitely need to escape sometimes. So I grab a cup of coffee and my newest romance book and lock myself in my room for a while. Works everytime.

Fun to hear so many consider a good book as a great escape. The trouble is, any time I mention I want to read people yell at me to write. :}
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim and all the ladies commenting!
I love escaping with a movie! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd if I'm running away someplace, I love Santa Cruz or Vegas!
Congratulations on the new publishing adventure Linda!
Lisa :)
a cold drink and a good book

Reading is always an escape because I can change lose myself between the pages of wherever the author takes me. A real treat though is going to the movies and getting carried completely away for a few hours.
ReplyDeleteReading is a great escape but it is even better if I can attend an outdoor concert (with relatively mild weather) and enjoy the sun, breeze and company with wonderful music and a book.
