Today we celebrate links!
1. Historical author Mia Marlowe recently visited Hawaii. I offered to give her a tour of Pearl Harbor ... and she mentioned me in her blog yesterday at this link. I encourage you to leave a comment on Mia's blog!
2. Speaking of travel, I have a travel blog, ALOHA ON MY MIND at this link. I am featuring Jane Austen in Hawaii as part of Sourcebooks' promotion, AROUND THE WORLD WITH JANE.
I ask a favor of you - go to the Facebook page at this link and "like" my submissions! Anything I win from this contest I will donate to the USO!
3. Jane was napping yesterday afternoon when the USS Carl Vinson arrived in Pearl Harbor. She missed the sailors "manning the rails" at this link. Today I am taking a tour of the aircraft carrier - no dresses allowed so Jane will stay home. I think she is writing a new novel about the Regency in Hawaii.
Would you like to see another Jane Austen novel written by someone selected by the Austen heirs (Margaret Mictchell's heirs selecting the author for the sequel to GONE WITH THE WIND)? One randomly selected commenter wins a book choice from my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, May 19, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, May 20.
Mahalo,
Kim in Hawaii
It would be a novelty, so Yes, would be my answer. However, Scarlet, although a good read was no where as GREAT as GWTW. The originals authors were "greats" and impossible to "follow".
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to give anything a try although I agree that it probably wouldn't be as good.
ReplyDeleteI do think it'll be very interesting to see another Jane Austen novel.
ReplyDeleteI am not a Jane Austen fan.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Jane Austen fan either and most likely it wouldn't be as good. I didn't even bother reading Scarlett. GWTW is perfect just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteI'm not fond of sequels written by different authors. I didn't care for the GWTW follow-up. I just don't believe it represented Mitchell's version of how things happened to her characters.
ReplyDeleteI have only read one book by her and I really do not care.
ReplyDeleteThat would be good, Ty

I don't think it would work. It did NOT work with GONE WITH THE WIND.
ReplyDeleteThere are some great writers around already who give us tremendous Regency reads.
I don't think I made it through the first Austen novel. *shrugging shoulders*
ReplyDeleteI do like manning the rails though!!!!
I think I would be interested to see this novel if it ever happens.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, why not?
ReplyDeleteI never read the sequel to Gone With The Wind. But how unique to have the Author's heirs do the choosing. I say Why Not.

Oh how awesome you got to give Mia a tour!!
ReplyDeleteI am not a big Jane Austen fan, but I guess if they felt like it they should do it. Though I would hope that no matter how it turned out they would appreciate all the work and stress the author went through. It would be a little intimidating to be asked to write something like that, wouldn't it?
It would be interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteI might read such a book. It really depends on what the plot of the story is.
ReplyDeleteI may read it but it would depend on what the storyline is. If it's interesting than a definite yes. I just hope it's as good or better than the original.
ReplyDeleteI would give it a try. It would be interesting to see how someone could pull it off!
