I spent the morning with a Sourcebooks author visiting Hawaii - details to come! Meanwhile, Sourcebooks has some fun programs ....
In the June memoir, All Roads Lead to Austen. the author Amy Elizabeth Smith took Jane Austen’s works along with her as she traveled to foreign countries. Her goal was to see if the magic of Jane Austen could hold its power across borders, languages and cultures.
Amy took Jane to far off countries – and we need your help to take her even further! We are holding a contest called All Around the World with Jane! Join us on our Austen love fest by printing out our Jane Austen “Flat Stanley.” Take pictures of yourself with Jane in your hometown or on your vacation, and submit it from April 30th – June 30th!
We will award the following prizes to the individuals with the most creative picture:

I just moved to Seattle and haven't been to the Space Needle yet. I think it would be a great place to take Jane Austen. :)

ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteAround The World With Jane is a great idea and for the first time I wish I were more computer "literate"! I not only can't print out the picture of Jane with the computer we borrowed from my son (which we borrowed because ours did a deep six) but it's ancient and doesn't even have a "print" option! Funny how somethings that are older last longer than the new ones!
If I could take Jane somewhere I'd take her the local library and stand outside and explain to the people walking by who she was and why she is so important even today and the influence she had on the printed word!
When I was in Junior High her books were "required reading" but unfortunately our local schools no longer understand how important reading the "classic" books are for our children to understand the influence they had on not only the people at the time but influenced every one to this day.
To beaching mauib. Whoo

I would take Jane to the Statue of Liberty and we'll go to the Museum of Natural History.
ReplyDeleteI know 'Jane Austen' would enjoy Picnic Point. She could look out over the National Park. It is a stunning view. Picnic point is on the edge of the massive plateau where I live, so you can see forever.
ReplyDeleteI would love to take Jane to go see the "Jersey Boys!"
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners!
I'd take Jane down to Duval Street in Key West, and to Southernmost point. She sure would be amazed at the sights.
ReplyDeleteI would take Jane to Philadelphia.
