Georgette Heyer, the “Queen of Regency Romance,” is one of the most beloved authors of all time, and Sourcebooks couldn’t be more thrilled to be her North American publishing home - all 52 of her delightful novels are back in print!
Over the years we have come to find that fans of Heyer’s work all have “Heyer moments”—stories about how they discovered her, which novel is their favorite, how they used to sneak and read their mother’s copies, and so on.
We LOVE hearing these stories from fans, and what better time to sing the praises of one of our favorite authors then on the anniversary of her 110th birthday!
In light of the anniversary, Sourcebooks wants to ask readers: “How did YOU discover Georgette Heyer?”

Kim, here! I discovered Georgette Heyer through the Beau Monde - the RWA Special Interest Chapter for Writers of Regency Romance Fiction (at this link). My favorite Georgette Heyer novel is my first read - REGENCY BUCK:
- it was her first novel set in the Regency era;
- it combines romance with mystery;
- it is Heyer's only novel to include Beau Brummell as an interactive character (as he was a fixture in the Regency Era).
Sourcebooks is giving a surprise grab-bag prize pack of 3 different Heyer novels: 1 Romance, 1 Mystery, and 1 Historical Fiction. To enter the giveaway,
1. Leave a comment about Georgette Heyer - how did you discover her? If you have not read Heyer, which book sounds most intriguing to you? Here's a list of Heyer's books at this link.
2. Sourcebooks' giveaway is open to US residents only .... I am giving away a "Regency in Hawaii" prize to one international reader.
3. Comments are open through Saturday, August 18, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, August 19.

It's been a while since I read any Georgette Heyer. I do remember enjoying them. In honour of the anniversary I should chase some up to read.

ReplyDeleteI know who she is and have heard a great deal about her but have never read one of her books. I like the sound of Regency Buck. Great title.
ReplyDeleteI have heard about her through the authors that i follow on FB and through their blogs. I would love to read any of her books!
ReplyDeleteYears ago I read my only Heyer book April Lady & I loved it. Borrowed it from the library. Should definitely read some more of hers but for some reason it hasn't got to that yet.
ReplyDeleteI havent read her but ive been wanting to read her. Convenient Marriage sounds so good! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI read only 1 of her books... I heard about her because everyone seems to like her and talk about her. Her books are hard to find in the library though...
ReplyDeleteHaven't had the chance to read any Georgette Heyer book, though have seen them on our local bookstores. I would like to read Beauvallet. Two reasons, would like to know what it means and how to pronounce it correctly. :D
ReplyDeleteI've only read one book by Georgette Heyer. But I do want to read her Simon Coldheart book. I've always heard wonderful things about her.

A few years back I won a book and an audiobook but never received them so I'm afraid I haven't read her as yet. There were so many to pick from but they all looked good!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read her yet. Why Shoot a Butler? sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI discovered Georgette Heyer in the library as a teenager. I went on to read every Heyer book I could find in the library. That was the start of my love for historical romance.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I have read any of Georgette Heyer's books. Footsteps in the Dark sounds like a good read.
ReplyDeleteI discovered Georgette Heyer through these great re-issues that Sourcebooks has been putting out recently. I read my first of her work last year, and I was hooked! Her style really reminds me of Jane Austen-- so classy. I haven't read any of her "modern" books yet, and I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the giveaway!

I discovered Georgette after seeing a list of recommendations or favorite books by Sarah MacLean. I just had to read everything on her list!
ReplyDeleteI heard about Georgette Heyer through the admiration of other authors. HeShe has influenced a whole generation of romance authors.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Georgette Heyer's books
ReplyDeleteI must be way older than all of the previous posters.. I remember reading most of her Regency's years ago. Some came from the library and some from the local bookstore.. But they are all worth re-reading, along with her other non-Regency ones!
ReplyDeleteI first read one of her books when I bought Frederica at Walmart thinking it was a by a current author. Once I realized my mistake I found that it was a good story with some great characters.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so many years since I first read a book by Georgette Heyer that I don't remember which ones - I think it's time I read them agian.
ReplyDeleteI discovered Georgette Heyer by Googling 'authors like Jane Austen'. I then went to the local library and borrowed 'The Grand Sophy', the only book of hers that they had. It was a lonely point in my life when I discovered her, and she cheered me right up and made me feel hopeful.
ReplyDeleteNever looked back. :)
I haven't read any of her books yet. Regency Black sounds pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any her writing. I know she has influence a lot of writers. I actually would like to read the Devil's Cub. That one sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read her books in years!
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of her until now. That is quite a booklist! I think maybe I'd start with "The Relunctant Widow." Something about the title caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteI have read maybe half of her books, including the historicals and the mysteries, but her romances have a special place in my heart because they tend to be light hearted and witty. I first picked up Sylvester: Or the Wicked Uncle because I was needing to find a new author to get me back into reading, and I was more willing to try romances than I had been before. Also because I heard she was similar to Jane Austen!
ReplyDeleteI discovered this author's books in the library years ago and enjoyed them greatly. I would love to read the mysteries. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI discovered her a couple of years ago and quickly read most of her regencies. I haven't read any of her mysteries or historical novels yet.

I've never read anything by GH. It was very hard choosing a book I would like to read. However NONESUCH appeals to me greatly. This is an awesome contest. I'm crossing my fingers for a win!
