Theresa Romain is a woman of my heart. From her bio,
Historical romance author Theresa Romain pursued an impractical education that allowed her to read everything she could get her hands on. She then worked for universities and libraries, where she got to read even more. Eventually she started writing, too. She lives with her family in the Midwest.

Theresa is celebrating the release of SEASON FOR SURRENDER, Book 2 in THE SEASONS QUARTET:
HONOR AMONG ROGUES
Alexander Edgware, Lord Xavier, has quite a reputation—for daring, wagering, and wickedness in all its delightful forms. But the wager before him is hardly his preferred sport: Xavier must persuade a proper young lady to attend his famously naughty Christmas house party—and stay the full, ruinous two weeks. Worse, the lady is Louisa Oliver, a doe-eyed bookworm Xavier finds quite charming. Yet to refuse the challenge is impossible—he will simply have to appoint himself Miss Oliver’s protector…
MISCHIEF AMONG MISSES
Louisa knows her chance for a husband has passed. But she has no desire to retire into spinsterhood without enjoying a few grand adventures first. When Lord Xavier’s invitation arrives, Louisa is more intrigued than insulted. And once inside the rogues’ gallery, she just may have a thing or two to teach her gentlemen friends about daring…

1. Leave a comment about when you became a reader for pleasure. I started reading for pleasure just into my mid thirties when I traveled in the Air Force - I started with cozy mysteries with cats. Shortly thereafter I discovered romances ... and the rest is history.
2. This giveaway is open to all readers.
3. Comments are open through Saturday, November 3, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, November 4.

I started reading for pleasure after reading my very first romance novel ("Once and Always"). I was jobless, problematic and hopeless. But reading became my escape world, where I can forget my current state and be happy.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved reading. I remember going to the library with Grandma when I was about 6 or 7 years old. I liked stories with animals and a bit of magic. In my teens I became a huge fan of Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell... Felt really cool reading the classics sipping tea. Then I discovered romance novels a bit later and I now read about every spare minute I've got (provided I have a book available).
ReplyDeleteI always read....when I was in grammar school I was Scholastic Books best customer. I started reading romance when I saw the cover of Sweet Savage Love on a rack at the newspaper stand.
ReplyDeleteI started reading for pleasure when I still in grade school. I love reading.
ReplyDeletePretty much ever since the beginning. I've read classics and encyclopedias and enjoyed it. Now that I have romance in my readings the world of books just expands!
ReplyDeleteI started reading when i was 12 years old but first time i read manga and 1 year later i read novel :)
ReplyDeleteKim, you're so darling! Thank you for offering a copy of SEASON FOR SURRENDER for giveaway. No need to include me in the giveaway, of course--I've already read it. :)
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I really don't remember a time when I *didn't* read for pleasure. As a klutzy kid, I would always rather read than play outside. (As a klutzy adult, the same is still true.) I discovered historical romance in college and one day tried writing my own!
I started early when I was around 5, I think. I was bored and no one played with me at home.
ReplyDeleteI started loving to read as a kid - 7 or 8? with Enid Blyton books! Loved them. Graduated to romance at about 11 or 12 & haven't stopped since tho I read some SFF too
ReplyDeleteI can't remember a time when I didn't read for pleasure. I had a pretty miserable time in school because I was bullied and reading was my escape from the painful reality for little stretches at a time. I'm thankful in a way to all of the kids who bullied me because not only did it give me the opportunity to submerse myself into hundreds of new worlds, but it also improved my reading skills to put me years ahead of my peers, by 5th grade I was reading on an 8th-9th grade level!
ReplyDeleteI've read books, ever since I learned to read. I was probably about 6 years old when I started going to the library and checking out "Fairy Tale" books. I was always enthralled by the stories, and wanted to be part of the adventures. I started reading romance books when I was in my early teens, and have loved them ever since.
ReplyDeleteI'd really love to read Theresa's "Season for Temptation". ;)
I can't remember a time when I wasn't reading and it's always been enjoyable for me. I can remember reading "see Spot run" lol.
ReplyDeleteI was reading for pleasure as a child. It's been a favorite pasttime for as long as I can remember.
ReplyDeleteI started really reading in high school. However, I took a break. Then when I got pregnant with my son, I was so sick that the only thing I wanted do was read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great post! This book sounds fabulous! I've always been a reader. I don't know when I made the switch but I remember as young as 2 or 3rd grade just haunting the library. As the only reader in my family, it was my "thing" and I remember my parents dropping me off at the library for hours :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for an interesting post! I love Theresa's books and am looking forward to reading Season For Surrender. I started reading for pleasure when I was around 12 years old. I had always enjoyed reading in school, but I developed an interest in history and graduated to historical romances when I was in my teens. I got my books from the library.
ReplyDeleteThis book looks wonderful, what's better than a Christmas historical. I can't think of a time I didn't read for pleasure. I learned to read right before kindergarten in a special program and have been at it ever since. I am constantly telling my husband, "no this isn't another new book." lol
ReplyDeletemaybe in school
ReplyDeleteI started reading historical romance when I was a young mother of two (mid 1970's). They were still fairly innocent with a lot of hugging and kissing. Once I went back to work in the late 70's the pasure reading stopped. I picked back up in the mid 90's and WOW had historical romance changed. I have been a VERY avid reader ever since!! I love the current group of historical romance authors and I'm always open to "new to me" authors. Thank you for the opportunity to win this book. It looks like a winner!!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for pleasure since I was in grammar school. I've always enjoyed reading, losing myself in a book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post.
I start reading when I was nineteen, my first book series was Twilight and then I discoverd my favorite genre: Historical romance.
ReplyDeleteI started reading when I was 26. I was given a copy of The Wolf And The Dove by Woodiwiss and I was hooked! That book changed my life. It brought a love for reading and such a yearning for history. I can't soak up enough of it!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for pleasure since I was 8 or 9! I've always loved books. Have never been interested in reading anything that was supposed to be good for me!! Your book sounds just wonderful, I look forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI loved Theresa's SEASON FOR TEMPTATION. I believe I won SURRENDER on another blog, so no need to enter me into this one. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've read for pleasure as long as I can remember, but I didn't become an avid reader until the summer after 8th grade. I had moved to new town the previous fall, had only made a couple of friends (who lived outside my neighborhood), and wasn't mobile, yet. I started with my father's old Edgar Rice Burroughs and Zane Grey books and moved on to my brother's collection of science fiction. Sometime during the following fall semester, I expanded into romance books and pretty much read any kind of romance I could get my hands on for a couple of years, though I fairly quickly developed a preference for Regencies, at that time.
ReplyDeleteI have read for pleasure all my life. My parents are great readers & I grew up surrounded by books.
ReplyDeleteI read when I was a kid until I went away to college and then after graduating from college I started again and found romances when my kids were young and we were at the library.
ReplyDeleteI've been readi.g since I was very young. Always loved it. I started reading romance ehen I was 13.
ReplyDeletePretty much after high school actually. I started with YA romances and then bridge more into adult romances :)
