In the Pink with Avon Romance - Stephanie Laurens' THE LADY RISKS ALL

Aloha!  My friend Elf at the Reading Addict recently spotlighted Stephanie Laurens on her blog at this link.   I happen to have a copy of Stephanie's latest book, THE LADY RISKS ALL, to giveaway:

Neville Roscoe, notorious and enigmatic, lives resolutely outside society, bound only by his own code of honor - until challenged by his desire for the one woman he cannot have.

Miranda Clifford is a lady imprisoned by rigid respectability - until tempted by a passion beyond her power to deny.

Flung together in peril, through danger and intrigue, they discover a love impossible to ignore ... or keep.

  1. It's like asking why I love chocolate. My love for historical romance rooted from reading fairy tales when I was a kid. Simple and full of love but with complexity wherein the hero and heroine struggles to behave properly just to express their love for one another. Walking in public together in past can raise eyebrows! Even if you like someone, you just can't hug or kiss her whenever you like unlike today! And lastly, I get the chance to picture the past in the very comfort of my room.

  3. I love to read Historical Romance books. There’s just something about this type of romance that really engages me. I love to follow the journey of the Hero and Heroine from the beginning of their story up to their happy ever after.

I was lucky enough to find this book at the library, so there's no need to enter me into the contest. I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

  6. I love history to the story. I mean when I read a historical novel, I start to wonder if that happen and go in search. They actually make look more into history. Plus, the description and the dress makes me image I'm there.

  7. Historical romance is the last of the typical romance sub-genres I read. And it's my favorite now! I've always loved history and I do get a little boost of history knowledge in every one of these books I read.

  8. I have always reading about history and romance. Historical romances take me back to different places and times in history, and I get lost in the journey back. Also, I often learn a lot about history by reading historical romances, plus have the thrill of reading a good romance.

  13. My favorite type of read. The older the story, the better. I want to be taken to different times. I learn so much on the way and the romance is the bonus :)

  14. Hi Kim!

My love of historical romance started when I was in High School and we had to read Don Quixote by Cervantes.

Of course I loved Don Quixote for his unrelenting love of Dulcinea and failing to see all her flaws! (The dream man for a teenage girl).

When I started reading current historical romance I loved how the history of the timer peiod was intertwinned with the story and the authors made me, as the reader, feel like they had a personal connection with the characters.

As I've grown older I've stopped picturing myself as one of the debutants making they comeout and being on the marriage mart and instead I'm either the spinster sitting in the back of the room against the wall listening in to all the gossip or a widowed dowager ducheess watching the "young ladies" being bambozzeled by those randy young Lords and Rouges!

  19. My absolute fav genre! I love the elegance; everything is from the language, the setting, the people. I love that the simplest thing is romantic; a touch of fingers, a gentle caress of the cheek.

  24. I think some of it is the longing for the adventures that we read about or saw in historical movies as a child. I always wanted to be Zorro or Tarzan when I was fairly young - notwithstanding the fact that I was a girl!

  25. I love historical romances! I know most idealize the time but it's great escapism. Stephanie Laurens was one of the first I read and it's been such a while that I've been thinking I should read about the Cynsters again. Right now I' working my way thru Victoria Alexanders Effington Family & Friends series.
