I was the winner on Saturday as I attended a special book signing with the Medal of Honor Society.  These veterans received the highest honor for "acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty."   We received a book of quotes from over 150 veterans and those present signed by their quotes.   Below is Sammy Davis and his wife.   I asked he could sing and dance.  He replied, "No."  His wife replied, "Yes".  His quote is,

"My life experiences have taught me that you don't lose until you quit."

I will write more about meeting true heroes in the coming week.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  9. Hi Kim!

    Congratulations to all the winners!

I loved your post about the men who have been recognised by being awarded the Medal of Honor. Whenever I read something about the honorese I alwasys remind myself "least we forget" that without those who have gone before us not only we but the people all over the world that wouldn't have the freedoms so many take for granted.

I grew up knowing about the sacrifices men in all services of the military make from my Great-Uncle Paul who is retired Coast Guard, to my Uncle Bob (PT boat captain who served with John F. Kennedy) to my Uncle Walter who served in the Army during World War II and my husband (US Navy) who served in the Navy during Vietnam and then joined the Navy Reserves flying on P-3's to continue to serve his country until he retired and was present during many different conflicts and missions. Brave men all who sacrificed being able to finish High School, careers, and being home with their families and being in harms way putting their lives at risk for their country.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families of the brave men and women who are serving our country today.
