The Hawaiian word of the day is
ki'i pohaku
Ki'i is statue, pohaku is stone.
Together they are petroglyph.
Petroglyphs are predominate on the Big Island of Hawaii, including Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. From the park's website (at this link),
Petroglyphs at Pu`u Loa are interpreted to have recorded travel around the island of Hawai`i, express consideration for human longevity and well being, communicate events current and past, as well as mark boundaries and trails.
Petroglyph is derived from the Greek works petro (stone) and glyphein (to carve). Hawaiian petroglyphs may look simple but they represent an advanced society of Polynesian travelers and their gods.
Speaking of gods, Angie Fox has created a paranormal world, Monster MASH. Luckily, the medical staff do not have to rely upon petroglyphs to communicate. Instead, they have Paranormal News Network (PNN) at this link. You can join the adventure with IMMORTALLY YOURS - Book One in the Monster MASH series:
IN THE WAR BETWEEN THE GODS...
No one patches up the incoming wounded like Dr. Petra Robichaud. Recruited by the gods for her uncanny medical skills, she's the best M*A*S*H surgeon in the army. Along with a nosy guard sphinx, a vegetarian werewolf, and other paranormal paramedics, she bandages soldiers who are built like Greek gods (literally). But when one sexy immortal ends up on her operating table--half dead and totally to-die-for--Petra's afraid she'll lose her patient and her heart...
NOTHING IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN LOVE
Commander Galen of Delphi is one gorgeous but stubborn demi-god. When his spirit tries to slip out of his fatally wounded body, Dr. Petra has to slip it back in--unwittingly revealing her ability to see ghosts. Now that Galen knows her secret, he's convinced she's part of an ancient prophecy. If the oracles are right, Petra could lead Galen's army to peace. And if he seduces her on the way to hell and back? Heaven knows--all's fair in love and war...

I posted my four star review on Amazon (at this link) and Goodreads (at this link). Needless to say, this was a timely read as my husband is currently serving in Korea for a year. To celebrate IMMORTALLY YOURS, I am giving away a Korean souvenir to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,
1. Leave a comment about MASH - the TV series.
Who could forget Klinger trading his dresses for a brothel's house when the 4077th was forced to retreat? No sooner had the unit settled when the frontline moved forward again, forcing the 4077th to follow!
2. This giveaway is open to all readers.
3. Comments are open through Saturday, January 19, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, January 20.
Mahalo,
Kim in Hawaii

MASH is one of my favorite TV shows. I still watch it when it airs on the Hallmark channel.
ReplyDeleteMASH was a great series. When I see a repeat today it is just as good as it was originally. Hawkeye was my favorite character.
ReplyDeleteMash will always remind me of my Dad. :) He never missed an episode and I can still see him in his chair and laughing over one of their crazy antics. I want to read Angie Fox's latest when it comes out in February. It sounds so exciting. :)

Gosh! I barely remember the series. I vaguely remember there was a guy called Radar & another kooky guy who would dress up as a woman.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all the side kicks that Hawkeye had. It was one of my favorite shows.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to sound silly but I never really watched MASH. I would catch bits of it but never an entire episode.
ReplyDeleteMy husband always watched it, and sometimes I would sit and watch it too. Hot Lips used to crack me up with some of the things she would do, and say. I also loved Hawkeye, he was such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteI remember sitting with my parents and watching MASH. I can vividly remember several episodes. Radar and Klinger were my favorites. The one episode I remember the most was when Hawkeye was stuck in a rowboat with no arms. That visual has always stayed with me.

M*A*S*H musings...Rader's Grape Nehi, the Swamp's still, Col. Blake's tragic exit, Hawkeye's humor, Frank's constant whining, theme song "Suicide is Painless," Klinger's personal dress code, Rosie's Bar, constant surgery, B.J.'s enigmatic smile--especially about his name, Winchester's imperviousness, incoming choppers, Trapper's abrupt departure, Col. Potter's horse, Margaret's marriage, Father Mulcahey helping the orphans, real drama and real comedy, a painful series finale.
ReplyDeleteI've never actually seen Mash. I have seen a few parts of episodes here and there.
ReplyDeleteReading LSUReader's comments brings a lot of memories back; I didn't remember all that she did. I do remember enjoying the show for many years.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching MASH all the time when I was younger. Two words.."Hot Lips"
ReplyDeleteNever saw the show
ReplyDeleteLSUReader Said it all ... I loved Mash .. all those practical jokes they played on Frank & then Winchester. Then there was that crazy flag was sure conspiracy was round every corner .
ReplyDeleteHave a good one Ann/alba
Mash was always one of my favorite shows! I was sorry to see it go off the air.
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven't watched that in a very long time. I don't remember seeing any repeats lately. It was a wonderful cast - especially Alan Alda.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I loved Immortally Yours, it was awesome!! To me, MASH is one of the best TV shows ever made! I loved the cast, I laughed and cried with them. I never missed an episode.
ReplyDeleteI watched MASH faithfully all the years it was on and was sad to see it end. I still think about Radar, sometimes, when I hear or see a helicopter heading for a landing at one of our local hospitals!
ReplyDeleteAngie is such a fun author, I loved her Accendental Demon slayer series. And I love mythology, so this will be right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteMASH, I did watch a few for the first time a couple years ago..realized they were quite funny, and then couldn't find them on tv anymore! See...me, behind the times.
I loved gentle Father Mulcahey and Radar...the cast meshed well together and provided great entertainment.
