The Hawaiian word of the day is
ho'opi'opi'o
It is magic.
Patricia Rice offers a ho'opi'opi'o post ....
Aloha !
Happy Valentine’s Day a day early! I hope all of you receive the hearts and flowers and rings you so justly deserve. But if not, put a little love in your life with a romance book. And if you’re a man who doesn’t understand what the ladies want, don’t be shy. There are plenty of good romances out there that you can enjoy while maybe learning a little about what women want.
That’s certainly the case with my next Oswin brother, Conan. Maybe I should have given him a romance novel to read, but he probably would have lost it under the debris of his desk. So I sent him a feng shui expert instead—to remove the clutter in his life and add a little romance.
The youngest of the practical-minded Oswin brothers and descendant of my scientific, logical Ives family, Conan has run into a wall of trouble lately. Losing his brother Magnus to an experimental helicopter crash has all but paralyzed him—until the mysterious Dorothea Franklin kicks his rear in gear.
For those of you who have read Lure of Song and Magic, this is the second in the trilogy about my contemporary Malcolm and Ives descendants (from the historical romance Magic series currently being reissued by Sourcebooks). If you haven’t had the opportunity to read the first book, it doesn’t matter. This book stands alone. If you like strong contemporary characters and sizzling romance with a bit of feng shui and glimpses of Malcolm “extra abilities,” I hope you’ll take a look at Conan’s story. There’s a sample on my website at this link.

Here’s the official blurb:
Romance and Danger are in the Air
Dorothea Franklin’s life is sliding toward disaster just as surely as her house is crumbling into the Pacific. Her unusual talent for feng shui can’t bring harmony to her invalid father or prevent her brother from dying in an experimental helicopter crash. Or has he?
She turns to computer genius Conan Oswin, whose brother also reportedly died that day. When Dorothea informs Conan that she didn’t feel the vibrations of her brother’s death, he wants to dismiss her illogic... but his instinct for trouble is already on full alert. His attraction to her is almost as distracting as her nonsense about chi and harmony -- nonsense that plants doubts about the deadly crash. If only she would quit twisting his head with temptation, he might be able to save their brothers and her life.
TROUBLE WITH AIR AND MAGIC, ISBN #978 1 61138 205-1 Book View Cafe, February 12, 2013

I LOVE the books by Patricia Rice!! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!!
ReplyDeleteNo flowers or candy for me!!!! I did received cards in the mail from my friends and my hubby!!!
ReplyDeleteHow I miss bougainvillea! What a gorgeous shot, Kim, thank you.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love chocolate, it's far healthier to receive cards with lovely sentiments. You are fortunate, Danielle.
And thank you, Betty! You have a wonderful day, too.
Who knows what I will get for Valentine's Day but it will not be flowers. We will have a great time though.
ReplyDeleteNo flowers for me, but chocolate yes. But, I'll likely make it....brownies! We don't usually go out on Valentine's day because restaurants are so crowded. Instead, it will be a quiet night for us at home....eating brownies. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband not a big valentine's day. He's not that romantic although he's a good guy.
ReplyDeleteI hope to receive flowers, chocolate, and books. What more could I want?!?
ReplyDeleteBarbara
Brownies, yum. Valentine's Day is our anniversary, so we always have something going on. But a significant other who provides books is pretty special!
ReplyDeleteI like chocolate dipped shortbread cookies! Nothing like pure decadence on Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteSue
We're planning on a casual dinner and a movie with some friends.
ReplyDeleteI won't get anything for Valentine, bad luck of being single.
ReplyDeleteI told my husband not to get me any flowers for Valentines Day, and that a card would suffice. We'll go out for dinner on Friday night to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteI got my flowers early all different. We are going out for dinner at a new Restaurant called The Sheppard's Way & then to the Movies.
ReplyDeleteLove Patricia Rice adding it to my NEED TO BUY LIST.
Have a good one ann/alba
not expecting anything
ReplyDeleteWe wait until the 15th. That way the candy is half off and the restaurants are empty. I get to really splurge on chocolate :)

Not for me unfortunately tho I'd love a sweetheart who would send me some on Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteNot for me :( We are pretty practical peeps and so we use the flower/chocolate/card money to go to a more expensive restaurant and splurge :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect flowers, because I told my husband to save the money for something else. If I don't tell him not to do it, I will get flowers. We did go out for dinner and had a nice night at home, afterwards.
