Aloha to Patricia Rice and TROUBLE WITH AIR AND MAGIC

The Trouble with Air and Magic

The Hawaiian word of the day is

ho'opi'opi'o

It is magic.

Patricia Rice offers a ho'opi'opi'o post ....

Aloha !

Happy Valentine’s Day a day early! I hope all of you receive the hearts and flowers and rings you so justly deserve. But if not, put a little love in your life with a romance book. And if you’re a man who doesn’t understand what the ladies want, don’t be shy. There are plenty of good romances out there that you can enjoy while maybe learning a little about what women want.

That’s certainly the case with my next Oswin brother, Conan. Maybe I should have given him a romance novel to read, but he probably would have lost it under the debris of his desk. So I sent him a feng shui expert instead—to remove the clutter in his life and add a little romance.

The youngest of the practical-minded Oswin brothers and descendant of my scientific, logical Ives family, Conan has run into a wall of trouble lately. Losing his brother Magnus to an experimental helicopter crash has all but paralyzed him—until the mysterious Dorothea Franklin kicks his rear in gear.

For those of you who have read Lure of Song and Magic, this is the second in the trilogy about my contemporary Malcolm and Ives descendants (from the historical romance Magic series currently being reissued by Sourcebooks). If you haven’t had the opportunity to read the first book, it doesn’t matter. This book stands alone. If you like strong contemporary characters and sizzling romance with a bit of feng shui and glimpses of Malcolm “extra abilities,” I hope you’ll take a look at Conan’s story. There’s a sample on my website at this link.

Lure of Song and Magic

Here’s the official blurb:

Romance and Danger are in the Air

Dorothea Franklin’s life is sliding toward disaster just as surely as her house is crumbling into the Pacific. Her unusual talent for feng shui can’t bring harmony to her invalid father or prevent her brother from dying in an experimental helicopter crash. Or has he?

She turns to computer genius Conan Oswin, whose brother also reportedly died that day. When Dorothea informs Conan that she didn’t feel the vibrations of her brother’s death, he wants to dismiss her illogic... but his instinct for trouble is already on full alert. His attraction to her is almost as distracting as her nonsense about chi and harmony -- nonsense that plants doubts about the deadly crash. If only she would quit twisting his head with temptation, he might be able to save their brothers and her life.

  3. How I miss bougainvillea! What a gorgeous shot, Kim, thank you.

As much as I love chocolate, it's far healthier to receive cards with lovely sentiments. You are fortunate, Danielle.

And thank you, Betty! You have a wonderful day, too.

  5. No flowers for me, but chocolate yes. But, I'll likely make it....brownies! We don't usually go out on Valentine's day because restaurants are so crowded. Instead, it will be a quiet night for us at home....eating brownies. :)

  8. Brownies, yum. Valentine's Day is our anniversary, so we always have something going on. But a significant other who provides books is pretty special!

  12. I told my husband not to get me any flowers for Valentines Day, and that a card would suffice. We'll go out for dinner on Friday night to celebrate.

  18. I didn't expect flowers, because I told my husband to save the money for something else. If I don't tell him not to do it, I will get flowers. We did go out for dinner and had a nice night at home, afterwards.
