It's big...the land, its hospitality, its heat, its sudden changes in weather, and bugs as big as the land they live in. Went across the widest part of Texas on a road trip one time and kept asking the filling station attendants at every stop, "Are we out of Texas yet?" One morning when we woke up it was already blazing hot and by 2 pm we were in the middle of a hail storm. Never made it to the River Walk in San Antonio, but did tour the Alamo, which was impressive. Also had to drive thru a couple of counties to buy some booze for a party because the county we lived in and surrounding counties were "dry." First time we had ever come across the term "dry." :-) I also like the Texas drawl, different than the drawls down in the "deep South" States. Anyway, that's what I know about the Lone Star State. And I sure do love me some cowboys and western romance! jdh2690@gmail.comJan Houglandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00253192243976154166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575273532904617281.post-67229569229204524842014-07-19T10:48:52.364-04:002014-07-19T10:48:52.364-04:00I know you can't drive across the state in one...I know you can't drive across the state in one day! The summers are brutal, although we've been lucky the last two days with temps in the 70's - such a rarity! Great food, great sports teams (Rangers, Astros, Cowboys, Texans, Mavs, Stars), gorgeous cowboys, the best music, and super friendly southerners.Karen Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01879661976460705463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575273532904617281.post-51290646923296946512014-07-19T09:38:17.817-04:002014-07-19T09:38:17.817-04:00So incredibly hot when there but loved San Antonio...So incredibly hot when there but loved San Antonio.
