I'm in a "Top Five" mood this week ... you'll know why on Saturday!   Today I welcome back my fellow Floridian, Shannon  Richard, as she celebrates the release of UNDENIABLE, A Country Roads Novel:

... for today's guest post ... what "newsworthy" men might fit the bill for a "Southern, scruffy Mr. Darcy"?   Welcome, Shannon!

This is a tough one because there are so many beautiful men. Hard decisions must be made in life. I guess I’ll just have to suffer through it, but what a way to suffer. So in keeping with the question I’m only going to name Southern men (which is lucky for me because it narrows the hunting grounds).

1.) Kip Moore – He’s a country music artist and the first song I heard by him was “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” (which inspired a very fun/sexy scene in Undeniable). I promptly became obsessed with that song and then I heard “Hey Pretty Girl” and it quickly became love. A lot of Undeniable was inspired by this song.

2.) Eric Church – He’s also a country music artist. He had me at the song “Smoke A Little Smoke” but I really fell in love with him over “Springsteen”. This song hugely inspired Shep and Hannah’s story, which I’m currently working on. Whenever I picture Shep (who has a lot of Chris Hemsworth in him) he has some Eric Church tendencies to him.

3.) Justin Timberlake – Ohhhhhhhh, he’s just so nice to look at. And he’s actually pretty darn funny. He’s cracked me up more times than I can count on SNL and then I loved his character in Friends With Benefits.

4.) Ian Somerhalder – There was this WB show from 2000 called Young Americans and this was my first encounter with Ian (yup, we go that far back that I’m on a first name basis with him). I loved him then and then I loved him as Boone on Lost. And I’ve spent many an episode of Vampire Diaries just staring at him in wonder. His eyes…there are just no words.

5.) Chace Crawford – Okay, so the first time I ever saw Chace Crawford act was in What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It was love at first sight.

Whimsy in Hawaii 

Shannon gives us a bonus five - what are your top five "whimsy" movies and/or TV shows?

1.) Peter Pan – I remember watching this movie for weeks straight when I was little. It’s my all time favorite Disney movie (and my favorite ride at Disney World). I think this is one of the reasons I have such an obsession with London (and all things British).

2.) Finding Neverland – This movie breaks my heart but I love it so much. I’m a pretty big fan of Johnny Depp and I’ve loved Kate Winslet since Titanic (she’s one of my favorite actresses), and as it’s based on the life of J.M. Barrie, the writer of Peter Pan, it only seems right.

3.) Pushing Daisies – Okay, so a very, very dark moment (so I might be over exaggerating a little) was when Pushing Daisies was cancelled. Ned the Pie Maker (Lee Pace…oh, is he ever handsome) is just so wonderful and he loves Charlotte (a.k.a. Chuck) so much. And the show was narrated by Jim Dale (who also narrated the Harry Potter audio books which I’m not ashamed to say I listen too regularly).

4.) Penelope – I noticed James McAvoy the first time I watched The Chronicles of Narnia and saw him as Mr. Tumnus (I know he was a hairy centaur, but he was just so darn endearing). And then I saw him sans costume and I fell in love. So the fact that he is the love interest in Penelope (which is just full of whimsy) made me love him even more. He falls in love with Penelope (Christina Ricci’s character) despite the fact that she isn’t what society considers beautiful. He thinks she’s beautiful anyway. It’s just a really sweet story.

5.) Wicked – I just really loved this take on The Wizard of Oz. The music was phenomenal, the acting was superb, and the story is just so much fun.

A little bit wicked in Hawaii ....

Hi SOS Aloha Readers!

I was so excited when my publicist suggested I write a TOP FIVE list of my favorite biker characters. (Great idea, Julie!) *rubs hands together* Especially since my Hard to Handle hero, Aiden Downey is a doppelganger for one specific TV biker whom I LURVE.

So rev up those Harleys, kids, because here we go!

TOP 5 Favorite TV/Movie “Biker” Characters:

5) Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. THE scene, YOU GUYS, where Mr. Terminator himself flips a sawed-off shotgun in one hand and shoots at the bad guy while riding a 1990 Harley “Fat Boy”. I LOVE it still!

4) Zooey Deschanel in Yes Man – Okay, okay, not a motorcycle…it’s a scooter. But the girl’s still on two wheels! Her character gives Jim Carrey a ride on the powder blue Honda Mojito and a quirky (yet adorable) loves story follows.

3) Christian Bale in The Dark Knight – what could be cooler than Batman transforming his CAR into the Batcycle?! Nothing, I tell you. NOTHING.

2) Stephen King in Sons of Anarchy – do you remember his cameo from the show? He rolled in on a bright red Harley-Davidson Road-Glide and disposed of a little (ahem) “problem” Tig and Gemma needed help with.

AND LAST...but oh, so not least, the man who inspired my Aiden—at least in the looks department:

1) Charlie Hunnam in Sons of Anarchy! Jax Teller himself, with his soulful eyes and sexy-as-sin body. And his face—he haz all the feels and somehow makes me care about him even when he is doing horrible, terrible things. Man, I love that show. If you’re an SOA fan, be sure to mention in the comments!

Note: Aiden Downey doesn’t have Jax’s skewed morals to contend with (phew!), but he does make a mistake (or three) in Can’t Let Go and spends most of Hard to Handle trying to get Sadie to forgive him.

He also shares Jax’s style of bike: a modified Harley Davidson Dyna-Glide (Super Glide Sport), though Jax’s bike is black and Aiden’s what I call “sparking orange”.

Here's an excerpt to tantalize your Tuesday ....

“Jake!” Grandma peered around the mannequin and yelled. “Help her out of that dress! We have a wedding emergency! Hurry!” 

“Right.” Jake released Char’s hand and shook his head as he took a step away. “Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve helped you out of your clothes, huh, Char?”

And special moment gone.

Ignoring the burning sensation on her face, Char walked into the dressing room and pulled the curtain.

“Don’t you need help?” came Jake’s voice.

“I think I know how to undress myself, Jake.”

“Yes.” His warm chuckle made Char want to smack him. Shivering, she reached for the zipper. “But when I do it, it’s unforgettable. That’s all I’m saying.”

Fine. She’d had enough. Refusing to let him think she was afraid of him touching her, she took his challenge. With a huff Char pulled open the curtain. “Prove it.”

His eyes widened and then a wicked smile curved his lips. “My pleasure.”

The way the man said “pleasure” did really unfortunate things to Char’s body, things that made her re-think her rash decision.

“Where’s the zipper?”

“Aww… can’t find it? That happen to you often, Jake? Can’t find the zipper, where does my equipment go…”

“Oh that, I never have problems with. You should know.”

Her eyes narrowed into slits as she watched him close the curtain and then do a turning motion with his finger.

She turned around and faced the mirror. Jake placed his hands on her shoulders then ran them down both of her arms. She would not shiver, she would not react!

He placed his hands on her hips, then unzipped the dress. Slowly he ran his hands back up the sides of her body, all the way until he hit just below her breasts. Her breath hitched as he winked at her in the mirror, bypassing her breasts and finding the fastener behind her neck.

Char chewed on her lower lip as she watched him delicately undo the fastener and then held the dress to her body so it wouldn’t fall.

“You have beautiful hair.” He ran a few pieces through his fingers and sighed, locking eyes with her in the mirror.

He wasn’t smiling. Was he seriously paying her a compliment? To her face? Or her reflection?

“I, uhh—”

“It’s just a compliment, Char. Not a proposal.”

She blushed profusely. “Thank you.”

The way he looked at her made her feel naked. And now she remembered why things had gone haywire in the first place. She never knew which Jake she was talking to. The one who had been her friend when she was little, or the millionaire playboy who had no soul.

Char doubted he even knew which one he was. She just needed to make sure she remembered, lest she end up with a broken heart again.

“Everyone decent?” Grandma called from the other side of the curtain.

Jake stepped back and winked. “Unfortunately.”

Char felt her face heat.

“Damn,” Grandma called. “You’ve lost your touch, son.”

“Don’t I know it.” He licked his lips and nodded one last time at Char before stepping on the other side of the curtain.

Grandma is known as Tutu in Hawaii ....
