Aloha to Codi Gary and HOT WINTER NIGHTS (James Patterson's BOOKSHOTS) - Book Review

30201091

The Bear Mountain days are cold, but the nights are steamy....

Allie Fairchild made a mistake when she moved to Montana. Her rental is a mess, her coworkers at the trauma center are hostile, and her handsome landlord, Dex Belmont, is far from charming. But just when she's about to throw in the towel, life in Bear Mountain takes a surprisingly sexy turn....

Novels you can devour in a few hours ... Impossible to stop reading

Allie Fairchild - an OR nurse and hospital administrator - accepted  a new job in Montana to show her family in New York that she can make it on her own.  She rented a cabin sight unseen ... only to discover the sexy landlord still repairing it upon her arrival.  Clearly Allie is attracted to Dex Belmont - an Army veteran turned park ranger - but she wants to focus on her career.  Likewise, Dex flirts with Allie but stands aside when his buddy expresses an interest in her.  Dex loves his footloose lifestyle ... until Allie turns his life upside down.

As the tag line says, "Novels you can devour in a few hours ... Impossible to stop reading", I read straight through the 137 pages in HOT WINTER NIGHTS.  I enjoyed how Gary brought the hero and heroine together, allowing them to share their past pains only to discover they have more in common than mutual attraction.  I also appreciated the vivid descriptions of the Montana landscape.  Gary lays the groundwork for more books to come, including SEXY SUMMER FLINGS, as announced on her website (link).

  1. I have always loved the mountains. We currently live on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains and can see the Smokey Mountains. I grew up in the Adirondacks of New York with the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire (and Mount Washington) in full view from out house. My husband's Air Force career took us to Northern Maine and the mountains there, and to Colorado Springs, CO in the foothills of the Rockies with a beautiful view of Pikes Peak from our deck. In our travels, we did finally make it to Glacier National Park. We hope to go back and explore the Canadian side.
I have not tried the Bookshots line yet, but it sounds like it will be a perfect fit for my busy days.

  2. Not far from here, in the National Park, we have Tabletop Mountain. It looks how it sounds - flat on the top. It's a core of an ancient, inactive volcano. People climb it & then get stuck and need to be rescued.

  5. I live out on the flat prairies so I'm nowhere near any mountains! The closest ones are the Rockies.

  6. The Catoctins are probably the closest to me unless there are some in Pennsylvania that are closer

  9. The Midwest isn't mountain country -- I first saw mountains when I was about 11. We took a family vacation out in Wyoming. Did a horse trail ride and was thrilled!!

  10. We live near the Berkshires and The Catskills. Both are beautiful but very old mountain ranges. Actually part of the same chain.

  11. There is actually a Bear Mountain in NY, about 1 1/2 hrs away. Catskills & Adirondacks aren't too far.

  16. The closest mountains to me are a good 7-8 hour drive away. It's a toss up whether the Davis Mountains in West Texas or the Chisos
Mountains in Big Bend National Park are closer.

  17. There are no mountains near me, I'll have a drive many hours to the west to get the Rocky Mountains.

  18. We have the Laguna Mountains about an hour's drive away. We never get snow here, but a few times a year the mountains get snow and then everyone goes up there to play.
