From Chris Keniston's February newsletter ...
Y'all remember Fabio, don't you? He held the world's record for most romance novel covers, with his iconic face on the front of 460 romance books. That record was recently broken by a popular cover model from Saratoga, Calif., named Jason Baca. Jason's accomplishment was reported in the San Francisco Chronicle.
Jason is now THE top romance cover model!
Why should I care, you ask? Guess whose cover is number 461? That's right. Saved by a Seal is the cover that broke Fabio's record!
What do ya think of that? I sure hope this sells more books because 100% of author proceeds are being donated to benefit disabled veterans by providing them with service dogs through America's VetDogs.
Mahalo,
Chris
From America's Vet Dogs,
In 2003, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind (VetDogs parent organization) recognized the need for an assistance dog program for veterans that would incorporate guide dogs, service dogs, and innovative training techniques. America’s VetDogs was created and incorporated to give veterans easy access to the best services possible to improve their lives.
In 2015, VetDogs expanded its programs to include first responders, including fire, police and emergency medical personnel.
All of our services are provided at no cost to veterans and first responders. Our funding comes from the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, foundations, businesses, and service and fraternal clubs.

I am giving away a digital copy of SAVED BY A SEAL to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,
1. Leave a comment about dogs - do you have a favorite breed? My family is owned by four Hawaiian cats ... but we often host Pius, a pug, when my friend travels for her job as a Navy surgeon. All creatures get along!
2. Comments are open through Saturday, February 27, 10 pm in Baltimore.
3. I'll post the winner on Sunday, February 28.

We used to have dogs and we loved labs.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we don't own a dog. It would be unfair to have an animal at home while the family was out 10-12 hours a day. But Inlove reading about service animals. James Rollins' Kill Switch is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this. I love how these dogs make such a difference in any person with disabilities life. I know our family dogs have made our lives better (we will choose to ignore when the puppy ate my favorite shoes) and for wounded veterans these faithful animals are life changing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a cat person, but I like King Charles Spaniels :)
ReplyDeleteOur first dog was a beagle and our second a rescue which was a mixed breed and the sweetest dog ever. I like medium sized dogs but wished I had room for the large sized ones.
ReplyDeleteI've always had several dogs in our family! My current furbaby is a beagle/pointer mix and he's awesome! My avatar is a pic from him when he was 4 months old. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow cool on the cover!!! We have a weenie dog and love his crazy snobby personality. :) We also have two cats who keep him company.
ReplyDeleteDogs...YES! I'm still recovering from a beloved tomcat who died six years ago...and someday will get another one. But for now I have a Yorkie, Maggie, who was given to me by my family members when I retired in 2010. I don't really have a favorite breed, but I do love my Maggie and her size is probably "just my speed" now that I'm retired. :-) I about cried when I saw recently on TV the funeral of the beloved warrior/hero dog who died for his fellow warriors and received a medal. I am equally dismayed when I see K-9 dogs get shot during police work. So I'm a sucker for dogs and their unwavering loyalty to their owners/handlers. They are such wonderful companions. Thanks for this interesting post, Kim. jdh2690@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy father and I had poodles and then I had a cocker spaniel....now I'm a cat lady.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has two German Shorthair Pointers, the same as the breed that just won the recent dog show.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, I didn't realize how many romance book covers he had been on. I like Yorkshire Terriers and Pomeranians.
ReplyDeleteI have a good friend who works for Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind in Smithtown. We have taken our Girl Scout troop to the center for a presentation, which included information on the service dogs. While I am not a dog lover, I see the value in these priceless animals for all manner of disabled people. Thanks for sharing the information! I will check out the book, too!
ReplyDeleteWe have had many dogs over the past 40 years and by far our favorites have been beagles and labs. We went to the animal shelter today and I had to restrain myself. They had one of each I would gladly have taken home. Unfortunately, the three we currently have at home do not get along with "outsiders" so we won't be getting another dog any time soon.
ReplyDeleteI am a volunteer at the local VA and am familiar with the important role dogs play in the recovery of our wounded veterans. The therapy dogs that visit are wonderful animals. Several of the veterans in the rehabilitation program have therapy and service dogs. I spoke with one young man just a few weeks ago who suffers from PTSD. He had just gotten word that he was approved for a service dog and was to head to PA (I think) to see if he matched up well with a dog they had available. He was looking forward to it and excited about the possibility of having a dog for support. It is a wonderful program and I hope this fund raiser is a big success for them.
I have had many dogs in my lifetime, and I don't really have a favorite breed. I have loved each and every one of them equally. However, we have had 2 Toy Fox Terriers, 2 Chihuahuas, and 2 Huskies over the years, so I guess those breeds could be considered favorites.
ReplyDeleteI love dogs. Pure breeds, mutts, love them all. White German shepherds are a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI have no pets. Our son has a golden lab and she is so sweet. So I like the calm type dogs. Cocker spaniels are so cute.
