Celebrate Little Victories - Eagle Scout, Flight School, and Hubby's Return

On Wednesday night, my oldest son completed his Board of Review for Eagle Scout (link).   We expect to receive the certificate and patch in two weeks ... just in time for our move. So we'll celebrate this achievement in Baltimore!

On Thursday afternoon, my youngest son completed the Pacific Aviation Museum's Flight School for Boys (link).  He received his wings from the FAA!

On Saturday morning, my husband arrives from Korea.  He'll enjoy one last week in Hawaii before we all move to Baltimore. I am taking a "vacation" from SOS Aloha so I can enjoy my last week in Hawaii, too!

I am offering a special giveaway - a box of miscellaneous romance books to one randomly selected commenter.  To enter the giveaway,

1.  Leave a comment about a little victory in your life.

2.  This giveaway is open to US residents only.

3.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, July 28, 10 pm in Hawaii.

I'll return to SOS Aloha on Monday, July 29, with Shona Husk's THE OUTCAST PRINCE.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  1. Love the photos! Enjoy the last week in Hawaii! Will miss your posts. I can't remember many victories of mine lately but last year my 6 year old daughter got a 2nd place trophy for reciting the Lords Prayer word for word in the Speech-a-thon at her school. Proud Mama!!!

  2. Have a great last week in Hawaii Kim! I'm glad your hubby will be home with you and the family to enjoy it. And that is awesome re: both your sons. What great accomplishments! A little victory we had recently was my hubby had his gall bladder removed and he is doing great...pretty much back to the same routine. Yay!

  5. Wow, congrats to both of your sons! One little victory I am experiencing is getting the feral mama cat visiting us to eat with me only a few feet away...although I am behind a screen door. At least she is starting to jump a little less. Hugs to you and your family for your sacrifices.

  6. Congratulations to both of your boys. Enjoy your "family" week In Hawaii! I am sad for you and yours leaving Hawaii, but happy for your new adventure in Baltimore. My achievement was graduating from college at the age of 50! In my youth just graduating from High School was an achievement and I never dreamed that I would even be able to attend college let alone graduate with a 4 year degree. It was a long (night school) process and one that I surprised myself at accomplishing.

  10. Congratulations to your guys, especially No. 1 son. Becoming an Eagle Scout is such a stellar accomplishment. Enjoy your time with family this week, Kim.

One of my latest little victories is taking on a new volunteer role at church.

  11. Congratulations to you entire family on the victories this year. So far this year we have had my youngest graduate high school, one of my daughters got married, my other daughter became engaged, and my oldest son is now working full time. It is anything my children achieve that makes me happy.

  13. You're back!! Welcome back to the blog Kim, hope your trip to Korea was wonderful! And now your hubby will be back and your kids are accomplishing so much! See what I miss when I don't check my emails for a while. :)

One little (big) victory for me, I just finished writing a novel! It may never see the light of day but I can say I have written a book. Check that one off the bucket list!

  14. Surviving a deployment would be my little victory. Because we are missiles and there isn't too many opportunities for deployment, my DH volunteer for one. I never, thought I could handle it, but I survive. I think what helped was having my first child to get me through it.

I hope you have a wonderful time.

  15. Congratulations to both of your sons; wonderful achievements! Glad to hear hubby is coming home and you get to spend a (sob, sob) last week as a family in paradise!! I'm sure you will enjoy it.

My little victory is finally getting back to the fitness center this week - 3 days - and a few new aches!!

  16. You must be so proud of your sons!! And yay that your husband gets one last week - enjoy! A little (or big) victory for me was actually saying no to someone. I'm usually such a pushover lol.

  17. Congrats to you all for your achievements and milestones! My little victories are just getting thru the days and nights without air conditioning during this east coast heat wave. It will be much better by the time you get to Baltimore! It will be a big change from Hawaii but embrace the differences & the opportunities - so much to see and do within a car or train ride.

  18. Good luck on your move to Baltimore. My small victories are more in the nature of getting things accomplished around the house, energy and available time always being in short supply. I just cleaned up a spot that has been needing it for two years.

  20. Congrats to your sons and enjoy your last week in Hawaii with your hubby.
I don't have much to celebrate, but that just means there's nothing to overcome, life is going smoothly for me and that's a victory in itself. I did find a perfect red rose in my yard a few days ago and brought into my house to enjoy. That bush hardly ever bears flowers, so that's an accomplishment for the bush anyway. :D

  25. As for your question, cannot think of a little victory. Sorry forgot to answer. Other than successful cataract surgery, which was my surgeon's doing not mine. LOL.

  26. Congrats to your sons! It's so nice that your husband is home! Enjoy your last week in Hawaii. I know you are going to miss living there!

My cat has been very sick. We just got his blood work back and he is doing better due to the fluid treatments he has been receiving. It is a small victory for us because we know it's only temporary. His kidneys are failing and we aren't sure how long he has.

  29. I did not eat something that was very, very bad for me today as I am trying to get healthy. As I have NO WILLPOWER, that is a huge win for me! And most definitely a victory. I felt so powerful, haha! ;-)

  30. Congrats to both your sons. What great achievements! It's great that your hubby arrived from Korea and you are all enjoying your last week in Hawaii. I hope you enjoy living in Baltimore.

My victories are aligned with my husband's terminal cancer. Each day we make it through, we are grateful for. Right now is especially hard because the doctor raised his morphine level too high, and he has been almost nonresponsive and out of his head for the last 3 days.

  32. Hi Kim!

My biggest "little" victory was losing the weight I had gained not only from going through Cancer surgery and Quadruple by-pass but also not being diagnosed for having a thyroid problem!

I had ended up gained over 50 pounds and being a Type I juvenile diabetic I had to take it off slowly but this year I finally made it! I'm back down from 165 lbs. to 108 lbs.!

There were times over the years that I felt like just giving up but whenever that happened I look at my wonderful husband who put up with my often "bad moods" and then the pictures of my grandchildren and now that I had to move forward and not back.

It really made me realize that I was too busy to be sick and had places to go and people to see (as well as giving my all at work no matter what I was facing).

By taking just "one step" at a time I made it! When someone asked me how I did it I tell them that by taking one step at a time all things are possible!

a victory? my leukemia is going no where! and that's after being diagnosed after 2 yrs! learning I sh not have gotten the shingles vaccine and in doing so, avoided having major drug treatment when I DID get the shingles! waking up every morning and seeing the sun shine or hear the rain! those victories are the best!
