Birthday greetings to the US Coast Guard!


August 4 is the Coast Guard's 223rd Birthday!  Hawaii gave me the opportunity to interact with Coasties ...

    Happy Birthday, off the top of my head I do not know anyone who served in the Coast Guard.

    I don't know anyone in the Coast Guard and the only Coast Guard movie that I remember seeing is The Guardian.

    When I was researching Smuggler's Bride I realized it was a book about the USCG (then the Revenue Marine), not the USN as I originally intended. There's a real lack of good novels and movies about the history of the Coasties, especially when you compare it to books and films about the USN and USMC.

    Actually my cousins were in the coast guards. I don't know if they are still in.

      I don't know how many of ya remember the film The Guardian. You know the one with Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner. Just remember this film cause they were in production when Katrina happen they had to move the movie up to Northern Louisiana. If ya watch closely you can what air base they used. By the way it was Barksdale.

    I think a book or movie about the Coast Guard would be very exciting. I haven't read or seen any though.

    I liked the movie The Guardian. And we do have a friend who is a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
