Celebrate Little Victories - Field Trips and Touch Down

Aloha!   I often write about little victories here at SOS Aloha.   The title of this post was inspired by Mary Gramlich, The Reading Reviewer (link), who reminds me that life is good.

This past week I chaperoned the 7th grade on their field trip to the Maryland Science Center (link).   We ate our brown bag lunches outside, overlooking Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

I also chaperoned an AP Government Class at a special seminar hosted by the Maryland Bar Association.   Kudos to the attorneys, including several judges, who invested their time to encourage high school students to embrace their democracy.

On Friday night, I piled on the heavy clothes for Meade High's football game.   My friend's son - a sophomore - scored a touchdown!   This is especially noteworthy as his father is deployed to Afghanistan ... so my family was happy to cheer for him in the stands.

We will be busy this weekend with youth bowling, flag football, editing an English paper, and building a catapult for Physics. What's on your schedule this weekend?

  1. I don't have any plans for this weekend. I will probably nip to Target's and the library, and then come home and have a nice cup of tea.

  2. I loved Baltimore's Inner Harbor and would love to go back to see it again. I'll be working today. Hope to visit Half Price Books tomorrow - have a 50% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket.

  3. I enjoyed the days that I went on field trips with my girls - we visited Harrisburg which is our capital. I had a bus trip to the casino yesterday, today I have card club, tomorrow is my nephew's birthday and Steeler football and Monday is movies with my bowling friends - it's the busiest I've been in a while but all enjoyable.

  4. Some great victories this week! Thank you for sharing. :)
I will be attempting to make cakepops today. I hope they turn out well because I want to make them for my brother's wedding next weekend.
    Enjoy the rest of yours.

  5. Probably going to go see Thor 2.

  6. I am working but would like to spend time with my kids too!

  7. Today I went to a women's health conference with my mom. We go every year for her birthday. It's a lot of fun. Tomorrow....just mainly relaxing at home!

  8. A quiet weekend - just a bit of gardening & grocery shopping on the cards.

  9. I love the catapult. My students make one out of a milk carton.

  10. I've really enjoyed my visits to Baltimore too - this weekend was just at home puttering around
