Aloha to Kimberly Kincaid and TURN UP THE HEAT - A Pine Mountain Novel

18051946

My backyard looks like the cover of TURN UP THE HEAT - at least the snow covered pines.  Our recent snowstorm has me thinking, TURN UP THE HEAT:

There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge.

But Bellamy's escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who's ever checked under her hood.

Yet this small-town man isn't all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?

Kimberly Kincaid writes contemporary romance novels that split the difference between sexy and sweet, taking the traditional idea of boy-meets-girl and infusing it with a sassy magic all her own. She believes in fiery yet flawed characters destined for a crash-course in falling in love-- usually the hard way-- and injects her trademark humor as well as poignant touches into her writing to create her stories.

Kimberly's writing journey has led down some bumpy roads (that first manuscript is under the bed, where it is very likely to stay), but there has been some fresh pavement too (her second manuscript earned her very first contest final, and landed the fantastic Maureen Walters at the Curtis Brown Literary Agency). One thing is certain -- the wild ride of being a writer is a lot richer in both its ups and downs because of friends and readers along the path.

When Kimberly's not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as "The Pleather Bomber", she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to eclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. She resides in northern Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters.

I am looking forward to seeing Kimberly Kincaid this weekend at Lady Jane's Salon/Silver Spring (link).   I have one copy of TURN UP THE HEAT, courtesy of Kensington, to giveaway to one randomly selected commenter.  To enter the giveaway,

1.  Let's talk about car mechanics - can you fix your own car or do you need a sexy mechanic to help you out?   I'm hopeless ... and the mechanics on base are helpful but not necessarily sexy.

2.  This giveaway is open to all readers.

3.  Comments are open through Saturday, March 8, 10 pm in Baltimore.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, March 9.

  1. Oh this book sounds really good! I probably COULD work on my car but I'd rather have a sexy mechanic working on my engine :)

  2. I can check the fluid levels & the tire pressure, but that's about it. Here in NJ we even have our gas filled by others.

  3. I am not a mechanic at all. I have often thought it would have been much more practical to have taken auto shop in high school than geometry. I could have actually used the skills I learned in auto shop!

  4. Definitely have to go to a mechanic, but I do know a few people who are quite handy. I go to them first and if they can't fix it I go to the professionals.

  6. I don't know diddly about a car, so I have to take it to a mechanic. Somehow, I have never seen one that I think is sexy.

  8. I not only don't fix the car, I get my son to take full responsibility for it's upkeep.

  9. I can figure out some mechanical stuff but I generally find someone else to take care of it! Things work out better that way lol

  10. All my auto problems go to the dealership.... stuff is too much computer oriented for me to do anything with my car.

  12. We use a great mechanic but not a sexy one.

  13. I'm absolutely hopeless with the mechanics of a car. Fortunately, my husband is very knowledgeable, and is able to fix things if they go wrong.

  14. I would love a great, sexy mechanic!!! I know just enough about cars to know when the dealership guys are trying to pull a fast one... courtesy of my dad :) Thanks for sharing!

  15. Thanks so much for cheering on TURN UP THE HEAT! My husband actually restored a 1965 Mustang, not unlike Shane's car in the book. Art imitates life! :) Enjoy, everyone!

  16. Lucky for me my husband is pretty handy but the way the cars are made now a days it's getting harder and harder for him to fix them himself.

  17. I am completely without a clue when it comes to cars so I can definitely use a sexy mechanic in my life! I know my dad showed me the car stuff when I needed to know them to earn a badge for Crusaders but it's all been long gone and forgotten lol

  18. I can change a tire and check the oil, but I'd rather have anybody else do it. LOL My dad also taught me how to change the oil but I'm not crawling under a car for any reason, TYVM. ;) Hubby could do it as has some mechanic training, but he never gets around to it so he just pays a mechanic.

  20. I need a mechanic and a sexy one would be a bonus.

  21. I know how to check fluid levels but I have no idea how to fix anything that goes wrong.

  22. I can change a tire and check the fluids. Anything else and I would need a mechanic. With everything being electronic, it's pretty difficult to do anything on your own. I have never seen a sexy mechanic!!

  23. I need a mechanic too; a sexy one would be nice.

  24. I have never seen a sexy mechanic but am reading about one now in The Chance. Great book. I don't drive but would definitely need a mechanic if I did and a sexy variety would be great. LOL.
