Celebrate Little Victories - Learner's Permit, Eagle Scout, and RITA Nominations

We have several victories to celebrate!

1.  My oldest received his learner's permit last weekend ... I shared our adventure with the Maryland Vehicle Administration (MVA) on my travel blog, ALOHA ON MY MIND, at this link.

2.  My oldest and I attended the Baltimore Area Council's (BAC) annual reception to recognize the 2013 Class of Eagle Scouts.   I am grateful to the BAC for included Andrew even though he completed his Eagle Project in Hawaii.   His project was the Hickam Heritage Trail at link, link, link, and link, which started and ended at the Hickam Library.

3.  RWA published its nominees for its annual RITA awards at this link.   Congrats to all the nominees!

Two nominated books appear on my best of 2013 at this link.

  4. There are so many of my favorite authors to root for, I don't think I can chose just one! Nora Roberts, Julia London, Jill Shalvis, Sarah Maclean....I wish they could all win!

  5. Wow, what a fabulous list of authors! Definitely hard to choose from. I do hope Jill Shalvis wins, I just love her Lucky Harbor series. But any of the authors would be great choices to win. Congrats to them all!

  7. Sadly, I have not read most of them. I love Mia Marlowe though and I'm sure this one was just as good! ;)

  9. Congrats to your son for both his permit and achieving Eagle Scout. Both worthy accomplishments!

It's a terrific list of Rita nominees this year. I'm thrilled for Cathy Maxwell and will be cheering her on in San Antonio this summer. The historical and contemporary categories are going to be tough for me as I have multiple favorites in both.

I already have a copy of PLAID TIDINGS, Kim so don't include me in the giveaway.

  10. Congrats to you son on getting his learners permit.

I love so many authors, and I can't play favorites, so I will root for them all.

No need to enter me into the contest Kim, as I already have this book.

  12. So many great authors on this list - that's a lot I need to catch up on. Tho it's hard to pick just one, since I read the earlier books in the series I'll go with Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt.

Lots of doin's in your family - Congrats!

  13. Congrats to Andrew on his accomplishments! I was sad that a lot of my favorites didn't make it to the nominations but there certainly are a lot of new authors for me to add to my TBR mountain!

  14. There are a lot of great nominations. Among my personal favorites is Darius, by Grace Burrowes, in the historical romance category.

Congrats on Andrew's Eagle Scout accomplishment. And best of luck to you and Hubby on the learner's permit!

  15. There are a lot of great choices here, which makes it really hard to choose. I'll go with Hoyt's Duke of Midnight and Singh's Heart of Obsidian.

  16. Oh my gosh I can choose, which is a good thing I don't have to judge. There are so many I love, especially the historical category.

  17. Congratulations on your son's achievements! My son just got his license 2 wks ago. As for the awards, I am reminded of how many books I have yet to read! Sleigh Bells in the Snow was really good for Contemp. Darius, The Lady & the Laird & the Luckiest Lady in London were all really good historicals. For novella's, I read How to Marry a Highlander & really enjoyed that!
