I was a winner on Saturday as I attended the Washington Romance Writers (WRW) monthly meeting featuring Christie Craig:
Morning Session: Build a Character, Build a Book
Craig will give you the tools to get your characters in shape, then this southern spitfire, who has received thousands of rejections, is gonna give the waning writer in you a good swift kick in the pants.
Afternoon Session: It’s Not Just Adding a Naked, Tattooed Guy: Using Humor in Your Writing
Craig speak on writing humor. She’ll cover the benefits of laughing & laughing hard, how to exercise your funny bone and techniques of writing humor. This workshop offers suggestions on how to add humor, a little or a lot, to your novel. Highlights include recognizing and exploiting the universal truths in life for comedic effect, the importance of timing and pacing in applying humor. Attendees should come prepared to laugh…a lot, and learn…a lot.
Christie Craig, AKA C.C. Hunter, a New York Times Bestseller, is an Alabama native, a multi-published writer, motivational speaker, and writing teacher. Congratulations, Karen and Anita.
ReplyDeleteAttending writers' meetings would be interesting. It is always interesting to hear about their research, process, and how they approach their craft.
I love the cover of Chosen At Nightfall. It reminds me of the view from the old camp we had on a small lake. Loved that place.
Congrats, winners. Spent the weekend preparing for the blizzard.
ReplyDeleteSpent the day with friends visiting from Fla and tomorrow will prepare for the blizzard. I would love to attend a writer's meeting to see what goes on their writing lives.

I had a quiet weekend - and now am anticipating 12-24 inches of snow Monday night (sigh). Hopefully the last of the season!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Ladies!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was a mixture of fun and work. We had a small horde descend on us when our daughter and some friends came home before heading out for their spring break camping trip - which made for a fun evening.
Busy (but productive) weekend for me. I'm in the midst 13 straight days of work but nothing bad happened so it's all good!
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice, unremarkable weekend. Caught up on housechores, a little reading time but it went by too quickly!
ReplyDeleteCannot remember, but am sure we caught up on errands, and spent family time together.
