Aloha to Anna Campbell and MIDNIGHT'S WILD PASSION

Yesterday's NFL Draft offered wild passion from the fans.  Today's  wedding party at Buckingham Palace may offer wild passion from the young royals.  For those of us in the Pacific Rim, we have our own MIDNIGHT'S WILD PASSION. I just received a Royal Mail Telegram from The Queen herself.

Her Majesty has given me the distinct honor of making this special announcement:

Buckingham Palace
London, England

William and Catherine's courtship and marriage has renewed my faith in the Happily Ever After. I am, in fact, a closet romance reader. My favorite author is Anna Campbell, the mistress of "dark, sexy Regency". Her books add a spark to my life as I serve my kingdom.  It is only fitting that Anna be honored for promoting pageantry and heraldry in her romance novels.

Anna's path to romance royalty started at Queensland University in English literature - brilliant decision in location and degree. She spent two years in England, serving crown and country, before returning to her beloved Australia.  Anna persevered in penning her voice, including "No Ordinary Duchess".  Renamed CLAIMING THE COURTESAN, this trailblazing romance finaled with two RWA organizations - the Romance Writers of America and the Romance Writers of Australia. It also marked her debut as an Avon author, letting the world know that Anna Campbell had arrived in Romance Land. Five more books followed - UNTOUCHED, TEMPT THE DEVIL, CAPTIVE OF SIN, MY RECKLESS SUMMER, and published this week, MIDNIGHT'S WILD PASSION.

MIDNIGHT'S WILD PASSION is Anna's sixth full length book. Six is a magical number in the English Monarchy. Henry VIII's sixth wife survived him. James VI of Scotland became James I of England (thus combining the thrones).  And I will be entering my sixth decade as England's monarch in 2012.  Clearly, six is a magical number for Anna as MIDNIGHT'S WILD PASSION has received rave reviews, including a sentimental tribute from Mary Gramlich, The Reading Reviewer,

Anna Campbell put her unique mark of excellence on each historical romance book she writes. This one in particular stands out with its fresh storyline, remarkable characters and never ending surprises the reader does not see coming. The mark of a good book is you are so saddened to have it end and this one brought tears to my eyes!

In honor of her distinguished accomplishments in Romance Land, I bestow upon Anna Campbell the title of Baroness of Brisbane. The Baroness shall be served by Royal Marines when she attends those wicked parties with the Romance Bandits (just make sure you send me an invitation).

With kind regards,

Elizabeth R.

  4. Kim again thank you for a lovely post on the day of the Royal Wedding, and to the Baroness of Brisbane a very warm welcome!

I watched the wedding this morning not only because I curious to see Kate 's dress, but also because I am sucker for weddings and also because when the late Princess Diana got married I was two and half months old so I missed it and only got to see it a week ago when BBC rebroadcasted it , and I must say not only did Kate look absolutely stunning but but unlike Charles and Diana (who's wedding thanks to the rebroadcast and me seeing it for the first time so very fresh in my mind) Kate and Willhem looked really happy and very much in love where Diana and Charles looked rather uncomfortable with each other ,I am not saying they were but that is the impression I got maybe I am wrong. But here is hoping and praying that the good Lord up above blesses Kate and Willhem with a wonderful, properous and long happy marriage !

Thanks for a lovely post Kim and Anna aka Baroness of Brisbane, congratz on your new release !

  5. I want to see the wave! Go, Anna GO! Do we have to curtsey to one another now that were noblity? (Nice title, btw) Or can we skip the noblesse oblige and just hug? SNORK! Sorry, that didn't come out right....heehee.

Anna, I am THRILLED with you latest and I'm so excited to have it in my hot little hands. (the book's hot, the hands are hot, everything's hot in DC!)

And that royal commission...and the Royal Marines...yeah, you RATE!

    Enjoy the day, Baroness!

  6. Oh, I've enjoyed many of Anna's books and hope she writes 60 (going with the 6 theme lol). And such gorgeous covers! Wasn't Kate's dress just lovely. I think this marriage has a great chance of making it because of how Diana raised her son.

  7. Congrats Anna on the new release! Both cover are beautiful and the story sounds great!

I love books set during the Regency, whether dark and sexy, or light and humourous. It just depends on my mood at the moment which I prefer.

  8. Kim, what connections you have! Queen EII on your blog? Wow, that's really going to the top. And it's not like she had a lot of spare time yesterday. By the way, didn't she look lovely in her yellow. I loved watching the wedding. Got a couple of writer pals staying for the weekend and we went really girly and oohed and aahed over the TV screen for hours last night.

Thanks for that wonderful introduction, Your Maj. I'm humbled by my new title but bow to your wisdom in bestowing it ;-)

  9. Mariska, sexy Regencies rock! ;-) Thanks for swinging by!

  10. Hey, Jane, thanks so much for swinging by! It's always lovely to see you. One of the things I love about what's out there at the moment (apart from the crowd about to cheer my investiture!) is that you can get a variety of tones in historicals. I love sexy and dark, I love light and sparkling. Right now, I can get both! Huzzah!

  11. Snort, Artemis! The Royal Marines are in a fever now to offer themselves to you ;-) Wasn't the wedding gorgeous? Loved it!

  12. Danielle, wasn't it uplifting to see them so happy together? I went to bed with a smile (it was on at a much friendlier hour here in Oz than in America - just prime time, in fact!). Thanks so much for the fan girl squeeeee! I might give you a diamond from the Baroness of Brisbane's collection as a reward ;-)

  13. I just can only say that I love this post! Very nice! :)
I already have the book but I would be very happy to get a signed copy to put next to my other signed copy ;) Yeah.... I was a lucky winner a few months ago, so I'm a proud owner of a signed copy of this wonderful writer. But I'm not selfish so I wish good luck to all of you ladies out there.

  14. Desere, wasn't it a fun post? I had no idea what Kim was going to do when she very kindly said she'd feature me on SOS Aloha. Gave me such a smile when I read the column this morning. Oh, and thank you again to Her Maj! I remember watching the Charles and Di royal wedding too. This one just seemed warmer and more real somehow. I wish them many happy years together. I really think at 29, Kate's going to be a lot more prepared for life as a royal than 19yo Diana.

  15. Hmm, just wondering what duties the Royal Marines are going to undertake for me. Didn't all the uniforms look wonderful last night?

  16. Jeanne, I should curtsy to you - after all I am but a humble baroness and you are the world famous Duchesse! ;-) Oh, OK, hugs at ten paces!

Oh, no, to hot! This morning is our first really autumnal one here. Maybe the royal wedding finally brought in the cooler weather. Thanks so much for the congrats!!!!

  17. Catslady, I wish them all the best too. It's hard to be so constantly in the public eye but they both seem pretty sensible about everything. Thanks so much for saying you love the books and here's to 60. Oh, hold on, I've got to WRITE 60? Sheesh, that's lots of midnight oil getting burned down here ;-)

  18. June, I love that there's such a variety out there now. At one stage, dark and dangerous was a bit of an endangered species. But it's come up again so as you say, we've got humorous and light or dark and sexy to choose from. Yum!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Snort, Delia! True noblesse oblige! I must talk to the queen about giving you a title too! Clearly you deserve one. Thanks so much for saying such nice things about the books. I got a giggle out of the post too!

  30. Hi Anna,
    Congrats on the new release!
    I enjoy your books!

  31. oooo, royal marines at bandita parties!!! if they all look like those in the picture, they best get extra uniforms cause I don't think they'll make it through the first party unscathed, but I'm sure they're quite good at hand-to-hand combat which will be much appreciated ;)

Anna -- you know I love your books, that your heroes are fabulous, and that you're a hoot over the internet (and I'd lay good money that you're even more so in person). now that you're a Baroness and receiving praise from the queen, all I ask is 2 things: 1) don't forget us poor peasants that love you and 2) this is most important -- don't stop writing! :D

    *curtesying*

Please accept my apologies and allow me to attend those parties at the Romance Bandits, where you would be served by The Royal Marines!

As you know I was reintroduced to Historical Romances by the master, yourself. *bowing*

And I'm looking forward to reading MIDNIGHT's WILD PASSION!

  40. Anna -

Being named the title of Baroness of Brisbane is long overdue! After reading your first five releases I know that Midnight's Wild Passion will be another one of your books that I won't be able to put down.. Once again you've come with a great blending of the unexpected and romantic intrigue.

When I'm reading your books I always look forward to trying to guess when "that moment" will happen and their bond will be sealed. I always look forward to that moment between the hero and heroine and you never cease to surpass all my expectations!

  41. My pleasure, Tona! I hope you have fun designing your coat of arms!

Thanks so much for the lovely message. Here, have an undressed Royal Marine I prepared for you earlier...

  47. Sheree, isn't the stepback Nathan? I thought it was - although I could have been distracted from making a truly accurate identification ;-) Hope you got some sleep - I suspect there were some very heavy eyes at work in the US today! The kisses were nice but rather fleeting! You get better value in MWP ;-)

  49. Hey, thanks so much, Alba. I have a very soft spot for Tempt too - love that the characters were older than usual which meant a lot of baggage younger characters just don't carry. I loved the wedding - glad you had a good time with it!
