RT Recap (Friday) - Water for Elephants

No alarm clock on Friday morning ... just sleeping bliss.  I peeked into the Wild and Wacky Diva Party hosted by Kayla Perrin and Jaime Rush.   Other convention goers attended panels for graphic novels, YA, Sci Fi, Hollywood screenwriting, social media, self publishing, and Romantic Suspense with Cherry Adair, Catherine CoulterCaridad Pineiro and Gennita Low.   Too many choices ...

Eileen Dreyer, Patricia Rice, and Cathy Maxwell

At 11 am, I hurried to the Historical Panel, How to bring characters to life, hosted by Patricia Rice, Eileen Dreyer, and Cathy Maxwell.  It was an interactive panel with pink boas, elephant trunks, and laughter.

(add your own caption)

Cathy and I joined Victoria Alexander for lunch.   The home baked cookies were literally "hot" items which disappeared quickly from the buffet.  We mentioned it to a passing sous chef who delivered a tray just out of the oven for us ... talk about personal service!   Victoria shared tidbits about her upcoming books ... I can hardly kiss and tell.   But I did squeal with glee (and so will you).

Christina Skye, Brenda Jackson, and Robyn Carr

Stuffed from lunch, I bumped into Christina Skye "teaching" other authors how to drape scarves for special occasions.  She asked me to film them for a special link on her website (stay tuned to SOS Aloha for more details - you'll be the first to know).

Patricia Rice, Christina Skye, Cathy Maxwell, and Sue Grimshaw

After honing my cinematography skills, I hustled up to Avon's DUSK TO DAWN party with Kelley Armstrong, Tera Lynn Childs, Merrie Destafano, Gerri Garey, Syrie James, Sophie Jordan, Melissa Marr, Pamela Palmer, Jaime Rush, Lynsay Sands, and Kerrelyn Sparks.   Avon provided carnival snacks (which I ate) and signed books (which I shipped home).

Being brilliant is exhausting!
Cindy Holby, Cathy Maxwell, Elizabeth Boyle, and Elizabeth Hoyt

As the sun set over the Pacific, I decided to call my family.   Somehow they were surviving without me!    Yet they wished me well for my big day on Saturday - the SOS Military Mixer.

Jessica Trapp, Kathryn Falk, and Sally MacKenzie.
Note General Patton sticking his nose out!

So let's giveway another book - winner's choice - from the stash that is currently cruising across the Pacific.

1.  Leave a comment about one of the three scenarios .. would you:
- laugh at Cathy Maxwell with an elephant's nose?
- share a cookie with Victoria Alexander?
- ask Christina Skye to drape a scarf around you?

2.  This giveaway is open to all readers.

3.  Comments are open through Saturday, April 16, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner's name on Sunday, April 17.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  1. This post was really awesome thank you for sharing the pictures with us they are stunning!

I would ask Christina Skye to drape a scarf around me because no matter what the scarf looks like I know I would look just as elegant as Christina when she is done draping it around me as she is one of the most elegant woman I have ever seen!

    Take Care,
    Desere

  7. Thanks for a fun and informative post - especially for those of us who were not there!

As to your question, I would do all three:
    - laugh at Cathy Maxwell with an elephant's nose?
    - share a cookie with Victoria Alexander?
    - ask Christina Skye to drape a scarf around you?

But I would most enjoy sharing a cookie with Victoria Alexander and hope she shares tidbits of her upcoming book with me too!

  8. I would probably do all three. However, I would like to know about how to properly drape a scarf. I really wish I could of been there, maybe next year as it will be closer to my home.

  10. I'm a sucker for cookies so I would share a cookie with Victoria Alexander. Plus, she's one of the first (if not the first) romance author I've ever read. :)

  11. I would have to go with Kathy Maxwell and the elephant's trunk lol. You have to love somebody that's able to laugh at themselves and not take themselves too seriously!!

  12. I would do all three! I like elephants, can't get enough of cookies and it's always good to know how to wear a scarf. :)

  16. While I love to laugh and have a good time (my tag line at the bottom of emails at work right now says, "Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life. Burton Hills") I have to say sharing a cookie with Victoria Alexander. I'm all about the desserts! That is solely the reason I'm overweight, I never skimp on cookies, cakes, chocolates... you get the picture? :) Life is too short not to enjoy the small pleasures in life!

  17. I'd probably share the cookie just to get the bigger half :)

  20. Wow, thanks so much for posting the photos and info from RT. I loved reading your comments since I couldn't attend, and laughed at Cathy Maxwell's elephant nose. But just her smile or hearing her laugh would give everyone a high. She's such a great person. Hugs to you!
