Aloha to Jill Shalvis and IT'S IN HIS KISS - Launch Day Blitz

I recently returned from my hometown of Safety Harbor, Florida (link).   It reminds me of Jill Shalvis' fictional town of Lucky Harbor - located diagonally across the US in Washington State.   Jill is celebrating the release of Book 10 in her Lucky Harbor series, IT'S IN HIS KISS:

ONE KISS CAN LAST FOREVER

Becca Thorpe has uprooted her life and escaped to the beach. Now's her chance to get away from city living, throw caution to the ocean winds, and live in the moment. Especially if the moment includes the deliciously sexy surfer she meets shortly after arriving in Lucky Harbor. Something about the dark intensity of Sam's eyes and the thrill she gets at his touch convinces her to stay awhile.

Boatbuilder and investment genius Sam Brody is a self-made man who knows how dangerous it can be to mix business and pleasure. But he can't resist offering Becca a job just to hear her laugh and have her near. Yet when her brother comes to town asking for help, will he tempt her back to her glamorous life in the city? Or do Sam and little Lucky Harbor have a chance to win Becca's heart?

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis lives in a small town in the Sierras full of quirky characters. Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is, um, mostly coincidental. Look for Jill's bestselling, award-winning books wherever romances are sold and visit her website for a complete book list and daily blog detailing her city-girl-living-in-the-mountains adventures.

  4. I'm a city girl but after reading various books with small town, I've always wanted to move to them and experience it! :) Besides Lucky Harbor, I love Fool's Gold from Susan Mallery. Both of those small towns seem like so much fun with interesting characters!

  7. I grew up in a small town outside of Philly. It was a more innocent time, but we knew our neighbors. We knew the owners of the local stores and the beat cop. It was nice and 'homey".

  12. I was born and raised in a small town where everyone knew everyone. Sometimes it was tough because everyone knew everyone else's business and they would tell on you if you did something wrong. My parents always knew when I took a wrong step or said a cuss word out loud. I couldn't get away with anything! But it was a fantastic place to raise kids, I knew that when I had my own two children. Being in a city has multiple challenges for kids and the risk of danger is greater because there are more strangers than there are friends or relatives. Anyway, the town where I grew up is NOT my favorite because it was in the middle a desert and it was so darned hot all the time. But I did have a liking for small towns after my children were born because of the aforementioned reasons. My fave small town to visit now is Santa Cruz, CA. It has such a laid-back style and personality to it, plus the ocean and street vendors and musicians and wonderful coastal weather. I lived there once for four years and have always wanted to move back, but it's too expensive to live there anymore...so I just visit whenever I can. Thanks for the interesting question. jdh2690@gmail.com

  20. I grew up in a small town - very rural - and hated it. Now that I'm older, I can appreciate the sense of community that a small town has. Fictional small towns I love are Thunder Point (Robyn Carr), Lucky Harbor (Jill Shalvis), Eternity Springs (Emily March), and Cavanaugh Island (Rochelle Alers). I know there are a few more, but the memory went blank!
