Aloha to Christy English and LOVE ON A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT

Love on a Midsummer Night (Shakespeare in Love, #2)

Summer is winding down with Labor Day this coming weekend. Yet readers can can revel in mid summer's pleasures with Christy English's LOVE ON A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT:

A Regency-era retelling of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

The charming, dissolute Raymond, Earl of Pembroke, is the most notorious rake in London. Home from the war against Bonaparte's forces, he spends his life gaming, drinking and bedding courtesans, trying to forget the only woman he ever loved.

Arabella, Duchess of Hawthorne, is the woman who betrayed him. Forced into a marriage with an old man against her will ten years before, Arabella never saw Pembroke again. But now her elderly husband is dead, and the new Duke of Hawthorne wants to force her into his bed.

Desperate, Arabella goes to Pembroke in the dark of night and begs for his help and protection. In spite of his anger and bitterness, Pembroke can not turn his old love away. He and Arabella journey to Derbyshire during the midsummer festival to escape the marauding duke. Arabella and Pembroke find that their attraction for each other has not diminished, but has grown to a conflagration beyond their control. They find themselves falling under an enchantment, caught in a dream from which they never want to wake.

  1. I remember the summer nights of my youth.... playing kick the can with the neighborhood kids, chasing lightening bugs, staying outside until the street lights came on, and millions of starts in the sky.

  2. I saw a few fireworks this past July 4th. When my son and his family lived in Hollywood, right at the beach (Florida), I would stand out on their deck at night and look at all the stars, and watching the planes going off to all different places.

  8. I haven't really enjoyed the summer nights much, too many bugs here in Florida to be out after dark. I do sneak out once in a while to look at the moon and the stars, and saw some Fireworks from my front porch on July 4th.

  13. I did see some stars (too much light pollution) and I did see some fireworks. My husband could be considered a hero and yes I did kiss him on many occasions outside.

  14. I usually only see stars in the summer if I go out looking for them very late at night - there's a lot of light around that gets reflected up at any clouds that are around.

  15. There's a lot of light pollution in my neck of the woods.. People that live in more unpopulated areas have better views. When camping out west in national parks, the night sky was wonderful!

  21. I live in the country so I get to see stars every night plain as day. I saw the cool meteor shower the other night. Also a couple of weeks ago I saw several shooting stars. I did get to see Fireworks several times this summer. I got to see them a couple of weeks ago after the Toby Keith concert at the Iowa State Fair and also on the 4th of July. I have only daydreamed and dreamed about kissing a hero.
I have How To Tame in my TBR pile and dying to read. Keeps getting closer to the top.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  22. I don't see many stars on a summer night when i go out. I mostly see the moon and that's it. I do miss being able to see a lot of stars though but now it's like you can't see them much from where I live.
