Aloha to Samantha Chase and HOLIDAY SPICE (The Shaughnessy Brothers Book Six)

As soon as the mistletoe goes up, that's when life gets really interesting

Darcy Shaughnessy has gotten used to her overbearing brothers chasing away any man she wants to date. But a chance meeting with a brooding – and deliciously handsome – artist is about to make this holiday season one to remember.

There's only one thing Benjamin Tanner loves more than his woodcarving: solitude. Then he gets snowed in with Darcy in his cozy cabin in the woods, and their heated feelings begin to melt the icy barrier between them.

With Ben's need for privacy and Darcy's love of family and social life, will opposites still attract once the snow clears and the holiday festivities come to an end?

When she's not working on a new story, Samantha Chase spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

This was not what he had planned.

Maybe it was what he had fantasized about, but this was not what he had planned.

But the instant Darcy’s lips touched his, Ben was lost. From the first time he’d laid eyes on her, he’d wondered how she’d feel in his arms.

Now he knew. Amazing.

From the first time he watched her move, he wanted to know how she’d feel moving against him.

Now he knew. Incredible.

From the first time he’d seen her smile, he wanted to know what her lips would feel like as he kissed her.

Now he knew. Sexy as hell.

His arms banded around her waist until he made sure there wasn’t even room for a breath between them. She went up on tiptoes to press even more intimately against him—which he totally appreciated—and it allowed his hands to linger and cup her denim-clad bottom.

And what a denim-clad bottom it was.

Gently, he squeezed it and even considered grabbing it harder and lifting her onto the counter, but he wasn’t ready to let go of the full-body contact just yet.

It was insanity. One minute, she was frustrating the hell out of him in a nonsexual way, and the next, he was so consumed with need for her that he almost didn’t recognize himself. This wasn’t the man he normally was. He didn’t pounce; he didn’t even think of initiating anything physical in a situation that was so mundane.

And breakfast was pretty mundane.

When Ben chose to sleep with a woman, there was, well, there was a certain protocol to it for him. There were the required three dates. There was the kiss good night that would build in heat over the course of the dates, and then it was normally at her house. Never here. Never in his bed. His home was just that—his. It was his sanctuary, and he was possessive of it. But right now, all he wanted—almost more than his next breath—was to have Darcy in his bed.

Under him.

Over him.

Another growl escaped before he could stop it.

For a moment, he allowed his lips to leave hers, because he was desperate to taste her in other places. His mouth trailed along the delicate line of her jaw, her throat, and up to nip at her ear, a spot he quickly learned made her knees buckle and had her gasping.

Good to know.

But she wasn’t having any of it for long. With her hand firmly anchored in his hair, she let him know the instant she wanted to kiss him again, and he went willingly. Over and over, his mouth slanted over hers until he thought he’d simply consume her. Tongue tangled with tongue. Breath mingled with breath. Never had the act of kissing seemed so carnal. So indecent and so damn erotic.

And that’s when he knew standing at the kitchen sink was no longer cutting it. He needed her. Wanted her. And from the sounds she was making and the way she was moving against him, Darcy felt it too.

This time when he reached down and cupped her ass, he lifted her up onto the counter. Stepping in close until he was firmly pressed against the juncture of her thighs, he cursed their clothes. Cursed the fact that the nearest soft surface was so damn far away. And cursed the fact that she tugged at his hair as she pulled away from him.

“Ben, wait,” she panted.

Well, shit.

A little dazed, he forced himself to open his eyes and focus on her. Her lips were wet and red and a little swollen, and her skin was flushed.

So. Damn. Sexy.

Resting his forehead against hers, he took a minute to catch his breath.

Was he supposed to apologize? Step away and start shoveling? Hell if he knew, but he was going to stay quiet and let Darcy say whatever it was she was thinking. So he didn’t move, and once his breathing was back to normal, he almost felt as if he was holding it.

“What are we doing?” she asked quietly.

Was she serious? Those were some fairly obvious moves going on, on both their parts! How could she be questioning it? And on top of that, she was the one who had initiated it! Lifting his head, he looked at her.

“I thought we were kissing,” he said simply.

She blushed, and it was sexy as hell to see. His fingers twitched with the need to touch her cheeks and feel the heat there.

“I…I know, but…I guess I’m just a little confused as to where that all came from.”

She was confused? Because now he was a little beyond that himself. Taking a step away, he frowned. “Why don’t you tell me?” he began levelly. “Since you were the one who reached up and pulled me into the kiss in the first place.”

The blush was instantly replaced by a look of mild annoyance. Darcy jumped from the counter, placing her hands on her hips. “I guess I got caught up in what I thought was a moment. I mean you came over and crowded me into the cabinets and then started touching me—out of the blue, might I add—so I guess I thought you were into it too.”

Oh yeah. He had forgotten about that part. Once she had reached up and kissed him, Ben had pretty much forgotten about his own actions leading up to it. “Fine. Yes. I came over here and—” He stopped and cursed, raking a hand through his hair. “I don’t know. I wanted to do that since you first showed up here.”

Reminder: I have a special giveaway to celebrate June at this link.

Sometimes the love that’s closest to you is the hardest to see.

Quinn Shaughnessy’s two older brothers have found their true loves … but Quinn’s not about to join that parade. Nope, as he tells his best friend Anna, there’s a lot more to life than getting tied down to one person. He’s positive tomboy Anna will be on his side — except she’s inexplicably developing other interests — even dating! Suddenly Quinn is seeing Anna in a very different light.

Quinn has been Anna’s buddy since they were both five years old. She can tell him anything — except the one big secret she’s been hiding for years — that she’s fallen in love with him. Now Anna is determined to make a life for herself that doesn’t include pining for Quinn. Falling in love with your best friend? Easy. Telling them how you really feel? Impossible.

“It’s been very entertaining watching you,” Riley Shaughnessy said with a cocky grin.
Quinn glared at him over his beer. “And why is that?”

“Well, it was impressive watching you strike out with all the bridesmaids. Really. I think it has to be some sort of Shaughnessy record. Epic, really.”

“Shut up.”

“I guess you missed the memo saying they were all married,” Riley said with a wicked grin.

“Oh, and you knew this ahead of time?” Quinn snapped.

Riley nodded. “Oh yeah. I got the low-down from Aidan weeks ago. I’m surprised you didn’t bother to inquire about it.”

“Yeah, well…some of us genuinely have real work to do and don’t have time to think about asking in advance if there are any potential hookups.”

Riley’s smile faltered a little. “So now I don’t work?”

“Shit, Ry, don’t start this again.”

“No, come on. Tell me how it is I don’t have a real job. Please,” he said sarcastically.

Quinn sighed loudly. “I’m not doing this here, okay? I don’t know what your deal’s been for the last six months or so, but trust me when I say we all wish you’d get over it. No one’s doubting you or your job or your career, talent, or whatever.”

“Your comment a minute ago says otherwise.”

“Look, you come over here and start mocking me and I’m not supposed to mock back? Seriously? What the hell?”

“Okay, fine. Let’s just drop it.” Riley looked around the yard and then gave a low wolf whistle. “Look at little Anna Hannigan. She’s grown up all kinds of nice, hasn’t she?” he said with a grin. “Hard to believe she’s the same tomboy who used to come around and play ball with you.”

If Quinn had thought he was angry with his brother a minute ago, it was nothing compared to now.

“I know I saw her at Dad’s birthday party, but I don’t remember her looking so…hot,” Riley said. “And when did she get so curvy?”

It wasn’t until Riley went to step toward Anna that Quinn reached out and grabbed him. “Stay away from Anna,” he said, his tone so low it was a near growl.

Riley arched a brow at him. “Is there a problem?”

“Right now? Specifically? You.”

Riley chuckled. “I don’t think so. I find it interesting how you’ve spent a large portion of the night hitting on married women—”

“I didn’t know they were married!”

“Whatever. But you spent a large portion of the night hitting on them when you’ve clearly got a thing for our little Anna.”

Quinn released him immediately. “You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. I don’t have a thing for her…or anyone.”

“Um…I think I do,” Riley teased. “Wow, I can’t believe I didn’t put it together sooner. Dad’s birthday party, tonight… It all makes sense now.”

“Ry,” Quinn warned.

“So what’s the problem? Why are you wasting your time hitting on married bridesmaids?”

“I already told you, I didn’t know—”

“No one cares,” Riley interrupted. “Why waste your time when you’ve got a thing for Anna? She’s had a crush on you since forever.”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“Oh, dude, come on! How could you not know?”

“Anna and I are friends. That’s it,” Quinn said defensively.

Riley shook his head. “So delusional. Seriously, we all know it. She’s been crushing hard on you for years. How could you not have noticed? You can’t possibly be that oblivious.”

Quinn didn’t know what to say. Hadn’t Anna accused him of the same thing a few hours ago where his father and his family were concerned? Was it possible he had missed out on the fact that Anna had feelings for him too?

He shook his head. No. It was impossible. If Anna had feelings for him that were beyond friendship, he would have known. They spent too much time together and he knew everything about her; he knew what she was thinking even before she did. There was no way Anna saw him as anything more than a friend.

Looking across the yard, he spotted her. She was wearing a nearly nude-colored dress that hugged her like a second skin. He couldn’t help but frown. For years, Anna had favored jeans and T-shirts. Ever since she left the pub and started working in real estate, she was changing. And he didn’t like it. Her clothes…her hair… Clearly he hadn’t been paying attention because the woman walking around the yard right now bore little resemblance to the girl he’d grown up with.

In some ways she was the same, but he was beginning to feel like he was losing her—like she was slipping away. And he wouldn’t be able to tolerate that.

Anna Hannigan was beginning to make him crazy in ways he’d never fully imagined, and if he didn’t get a grip on it soon, Quinn wasn’t sure what would happen.

“From the look on your face, I can see this may be brand-new information to you,” Riley said from beside him, humor lacing his tone. He clapped a hand on Quinn’s shoulder. “Just remember this, big brother—she’s a beautiful woman and she’s only going to sit around and wait for your dumb ass for so long.”

Quinn wanted to argue, but he didn’t know what to say. Up until today, he had never even imagined the possibility of him and Anna being anything more than friends. But after the whole bikini incident and now seeing her in that dress…well, he wasn’t so sure he’d be able to think of anything but.

But the thought of losing her as his best friend? He wasn’t sure he could handle it.

“Fine, stay there and think, Romeo,” Riley said with a smile. “I’m going to go over and get reacquainted with the lovely Anna.”

It would have been easy to grab his brother by the scruff of his neck and haul him back, but what was the use? There was no way he was going to make a scene in the middle of the party. And knowing Riley, his bodyguard would be all over Quinn in the blink of an eye and that would really ruin the party.

With nothing else to do, Quinn walked over and got himself another beer and sat in the corner.

Before Jordan could form an answer to his oh-so-nonchalant question, Jake asked, “Do you know him, Mommy?”

“Yes, sweetheart,” she replied as she turned to give her sons a reassuring look before turning back to the man in the window. “This is Mr. Tyler. We went to school together.” She nervously looked up and met his smiling eyes.

“Hi, boys,” he said, relieved that they stopped looking at him as if he were an ax murderer. “You can call me Rob.” The boys, in turn, introduced themselves and said hello.

Rob Tyler. Of all the people Jordan could have run into today, who would have thought it would be her first love. She hadn’t seen him in years; hadn’t even thought about him, but now, watching him stand there before her, the years just melted away.

He was still as handsome as she remembered and her heart still beat erratically at his closeness.

Rob turned his attention back to the woman sitting before him. You could have knocked him over with a feather when he heard her voice. He hadn’t even needed to turn around to know it was Jordan. He’d know her honeyed voice anywhere. “So, you were saying…” he prompted her.

“We’re here on a family trip and needed to get some groceries,” she stated. “Is there a supermarket nearby?” Her voice shook a little and she hoped it didn’t sound as obvious to Rob as it did to her. It was a little unnerving being this close to him after so many years. He had been her first love, her first everything.

Rob leaned in close to Jordan. “Did you leave your husband home in bed?” he asked quietly.

“Our dad isn’t here with us,” Joseph supplied, and Jordan shot him a look in the rearview mirror.

“He doesn’t live with us anymore,” Jake chimed in. Jordan’s head hit the headrest and she shut her eyes, unable to believe her children chose now to come out of their shells.

Taking a deep breath, she tilted her head to the side and looked at Rob with mild embarrassment. “About that grocery store?” He didn’t respond, but instead walked around to the passenger side of her SUV and let himself in. Jordan stared at him incredulously as he made himself comfortable.

“It’s just easier to show you,” he said as if it were the most natural thing in the world for him to be there with her.

It wasn’t natural, however. He made the entire interior of the SUV shrink, and Jordan could feel her whole body tense with awareness. Rather than make a scene in front of the boys, she snapped her mouth shut and listened for what she was sure would be long and confusing directions.

Less than five minutes and one right-hand turn later, they were parked in front of a huge supermarket. Jordan silently glared at Rob.

“What?” he asked innocently with a smirk. “It seemed farther away in my head, I guess.” When she continued to glare, he added, “Besides, I needed some things too. Lucky for me you came along when you did.”

They all climbed out of the car and Jordan walked away to retrieve a shopping cart. She wasn’t surprised when Rob came up behind her.

“You don’t mind if I share, do you?” he asked close to her ear. He didn’t wait for her to answer. He was walking ahead of her now, her sons clamoring around him.

Jordan paused for a minute to compose herself. What the heck just happened?

“C’mon, Mom!” Joseph prompted. Shaking her head, she met up with them at the store entrance.

To any observer, they were a family out doing their shopping. To Jordan’s thundering heart, they were a disaster waiting to happen. How did she go from single mom on a family vacation with her boys, to grocery shopping with her ex-boyfriend?

“Aubrey! I’m home!”

Looking up, she saw a very happy and relaxed-looking Hugh standing in the doorway. If she wasn’t mistaken, he might even be a little bit tipsy. She almost giggled at the thought. Men didn’t get tipsy, did they? “Hey, you,” she said, smiling up at him.

“Whatcha doin?” he asked, walking slowly across the room until he could plop down on the bed beside her.

“I was just going to read for a bit while I was waiting for you.” His hair was tousled, his shirt was untucked, and he looked completely adorable to her. Reaching out, she ran a hand through his hair. “How was your night?”

Hugh stretched out beside her as he kicked his shoes off. “I took fifty bucks from my brother. It was awesome.”

She chuckled. “Which brother?”

“Owen,” he said around a yawn. “Served him right. Trying to trick me up with math.”

Her brows furrowed. “Math?”

“Yeah. Such a smarty pants. Thinks he knows everything. But I beat him. He may know about angles and lines and spots but I know how to provide a good distraction,” he said with a silly grin.

“So you cheated.”

“Ha! That’s a good one! No, I did not cheat. I just happened to notice how Owen kept sneaking looks at this girl standing over by the jukebox. So while he was doing his geo…geolo…geomethology…”

“Geometry?”

“Yeah…so while he was doing that stuff in his head, I went over and introduced myself, then brought her over to meet Owen.” He laughed. “Then he forgot all about how to do…you know…and Riley and I were able to kick his and Aidan’s butts. It was fun.”

Yeah, he was definitely a little tipsy and it was adorable. It was nice to see he could unwind and have fun with his brothers. “I’m glad you had a good time.”

“How about you, darlin? Did you have fun tonight?”

“I did. Anna made burgers and…”

“Oh, man! And I missed it?” He sat up and looked around for his phone. Pulling it from his pocket, he began scrolling through his contacts.

“Hugh? What are you doing?”

“I’m starving. Do you think she’ll make some more?”

“Who?”

“Anna,” he said with a huff. “Sheesh.”

“Hugh Shaughnessy, you cannot call Anna now and ask her to make you a burger!” She tried to sound firm but couldn’t stop laughing at the confused look on his face. “Give me the phone.”

“But…do we have any burgers here?”

She shook her head. “Nope. Sorry. No burgers.”

“Well damn,” he muttered, flopping back down on the bed. Looking over at her, he smiled sleepily. “They were good, right?”

Nodding, she said, “Yup. They were.” Aubrey knew he was going to be asleep in a matter of minutes, but figured she’d humor him for a little bit longer. “Do you want me to make you something to eat? Or maybe just a little snack?”

“Mmm…”

Turning on her side to face him, she nudged him around until she got him undressed down to his boxers and even managed to get him under the blankets. He made several sloppy attempts to kiss her but she kept it playful to distract him. By the time he was settled, she was exhausted.

“Sweet dreams, wonderful man,” she whispered, kissing his cheek.

Hugh smiled sleepily. “Love you,” he murmured in response. Aubrey was glad his eyes were closed and he was already snoring softly, because she was certain the look of shock on her face would have been hard to explain.

Did he really mean what he’d said? Was it possible Hugh was really in love with her? It was hard for Aubrey to wrap her head around. No one had ever said it to her before. And to be honest, Hugh really hadn’t said it to her either—not consciously, anyway.

But now that it was out there, she had a feeling it was going to be pretty hard to forget.

Hey, Everyone! It’s Samantha Chase and I am super excited to be here today with all of you at the SOS Aloha talking about the newest book in the Montgomery Brothers series, I'LL BE THERE.  This is book six in the series and we are looking at the crankiest member of the family – Zach Montgomery. He has a good reason to be that way, but he’s making life crazy for everyone around him. You see…well, I’ll let him tell you about it.

Hey, ladies! Zach Montgomery here. I don’t know about you, but I am a total adrenaline junkie. Or…at least I used to be. I’m not jumping out of planes any time in the near future but man oh man did I have some great trips doing that sort of thing and more! I have some amazing memories from each and every one of my trips but I’ll give you some highlights – you know, just in case you’re looking for your own adrenaline rush!

1. Canyoning - The idea is to descend stone gorges carved out over thousands of years, using a variety of techniques including abseiling and climbing. There can be fast flowing chutes of water to contend with, making the experience even more exhilarating. Some canyons require you to get really wet and wild, sliding down rapids as you follow the path of a waterfall before jumping into a pool below. A wild ride for sure but it’s a new favorite!

2. Paragliding in Valle de Bravo - Valle de Bravo has become a favorite location for many paragliding enthusiasts. Its landscape and atmospheric conditions are ideal for the sport, hence Valle de Bravo plays host to important national and international events and championships every year. And yes, I’ve competed! Who doesn’t live flying and navigating in the clouds?

3. Dog sled Racing, Alaska. This was something I wanted to do since I was a kid – I love winter sports and setting out on dog-powered transportation whistling past trees at speeds humans weren't really designed for was an incredible high! I’ve actually done this one a couple of times - Golsovia Alaska offers some of the best dog mushing; you'll see the vast tundra, moose, wolves, eagles and once I actually timed it so I saw the Northern Lights.

4. Surf Shipstern Bluff – Again, it’s all about the water in Australia! Great white sharks, huge waves, difficulty just getting out there -- there are several reasons Shipstern Bluff is considered one of the most dangerous surf spots in the world. I only did this one once as well. I’ll stick to surfing in California where things are a little more my speed. I know my limitations!

5. Bungee Jumping - Last, but certainly not the least, is the adventure of a life-time: the world’s highest bungee jumping. What an exhilarating moment as you are falling for 216 meters (708 feet) from the Bloukrans bridge in Storms River, South Africa.

Catering to the CEO was included in the romance bundle Loving the CEO, a five-book package that made the New York Times and the USA Today bestseller lists. In March 2013, The Christmas Cottage was nominated for two Indie Romance Convention Awards—Best Indie Romance Novella and Best Indie Contemporary Romance—while Samantha was nominated for Indie Author of the Year. When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, blogging, playing Scrabble on Facebook, and spending time with her husband of twenty-four years and their two sons in North Carolina.  Visit her at chasing-romance.com.

Aloha to Samantha Chase and the Montgomery Brothers Series

In my contemporary romance series The Montgomerys, the patriarch of wealthy family William Montgomery is blessed. He may owe a lot to the family business, but it’s his family that owns his heart. He’s living his dream – married to the love of his life – but now he wants to step in and make sure the next generation of Montgomery’s find their true loves.

We see him get his start in Wait for Me. Lucas is living in a self-imposed exile after an injury ended his NFL career. He is content being alone – that is until the sweet and sexy Emma shows up on his doorstep in the middle of a snowstorm (thanks to some finagling from William). Jason and Maggie work together in Trust in Me and Jason’s rule about not dating employees was important to him. But his heart just won’t listen. In Return to You, Selena was James Montgomery’s first love, but a tragic accident broke them up. Now, ten years later, she’s back in his life but can he convince her to stay? And all Summer Montgomery in Meant for You ever wanted was Ethan Reed. As her brother’s best friend, he’s off limits. But Summer was never very good at following the rules.

With so many Montgomery’s coming at readers, I thought it might be nice for you to get to know them a little bit better! So let’s play a game of ‘Montgomery Most Likely’ where you will find out what makes these characters tick!

Who is the Montgomery Most Likely To…

…plan an impromptu vacation to an exotic beach resort?

James from Return to You. The beach was where he and Selena first really spent their time and so it holds a special place in his heart. As an adult, he’d want to take her to some of the best beaches in the world.

…watch the latest Bond flick?

Lucas from Wait for Me. He’s all about a good action flick but something about 007 keeps him riveted to the screen.

…get into a fight at a sporting event?

Maggie from Trust in Me. For a fairly quiet and conservative woman, Maggie is very passionate about sports. Even more so than Jason! She’s not afraid to yell at a referee or a fellow fan in support of her favorite team!

…have cute nicknames for a significant other (‘shnookums’ anyone?)

Summer from Meant for You. She would do it to be silly more than anything else. It would irk Ethan but they’d keep it behind closed doors – or at work. Summer would most definitely tease him with it at work!

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.
