Our weekly column, Monday Night Romance, is now available at this link. This week we celebrate the Read Pink Campaign sponsored by Penguin Random House. So let's chat more about pink ...
In 1975, Pink Floyd topped the UK and US Charts with WISH YOU WERE HERE.
In 1984, Molly Ringwald taught us how to refashion a dated prom dress in PRETTY IN PINK.
In the 1986, Don Johnson made it fashionable for men to wear pink in MIAMI VICE.
In 2001, Alecia Beth Moore got the party started with pink hair.
In 2013, my family discovered the artwork of Lazy Pink Whale in Korea.
In 2014, Hello Kitty celebrated her 40th birthday in pink glamour.
Pink may be fashionable, but pink is also a reminder to get your annual mammogran for early detection. Likewise, let's join together to support those who are battling breast cancer now.
Tracy is giving away a choice from her backlist plus special Breast Cancer Awareness swag to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,
1. Leave a comment about pink - anything goes!
2. Comments are open through Saturday, October 4, 10 pm in Baltimore.
3. I'll post the winner on Sunday, October 5.

to be perfectly honest... I used to hate pink... with a passion. Must be trauma left over from being a tomboy and my mom forcing me to wear it... but now I'm not so antipink :) Especially for such a great cause! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the color pink especially for nail polish!
ReplyDeleteI like the singer Pink. My mom use to buy my sister all pink clothes and I got all blue (I was suppose to be the boy).
ReplyDeleteThe campaign for breast cancer awareness has made the color pink such a marketing symbol. I support whatever it takes to raise awareness and funds.
ReplyDeleteit's a nice color to support causes
ReplyDeleteI like pink for breast cancer.
ReplyDeleteI love pink and it's great the color is being used to help support the fight for breast cancer. I think any man who wears pink is a real man! :)
ReplyDeleteThe color pink just reminds me of my favorite Barbie I used to play with. She had a gorgeous pink dress and matching pink shoes. Hope the cure for all cancer can be found soon!
ReplyDeleteI must say I see PINK & do think breast cancer. The campaign does work.
ReplyDeleteI love the color pink. I think everyone looks good in pink.
ReplyDeleteI used to hate pink also. Now I do like wearing it, although it's not a high favorite color. Pink is very rampant in my household - I have three daughters. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your efforts on breast cancer awareness.
ReplyDeleteNeed to dig up my pink scarf.
Always a good reminder to get squished once a year!!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had breast cancer so I've been squished and gotten the all clear.
ReplyDeletePink is my granddaughter's favorite color (of course!)
ReplyDeleteI love the color pink and I am all the time buying breast cancer awareness items.
ReplyDeleteI used to love pink as a kid, and do find it a flattering color even now :) While I do think it's good to get the word about about breast cancer research and those affected, I know that some cancer survivors feel it's "pinkwashing" I guess the most important part is awareness and support however people want to experience it!
ReplyDeleteAnd LOL on Miami Vice and Don Johnson! He and Phillip Michael Thomas definitely brought all kinds of colors to the "wear me!" spectrum! And I can't believe Hello Kitty's only 40!! I didn't realize I was older than she was ;)
