Aloha to Lily Blackwood and THE BEAST OF CLAN KINCAID

Reminder: I have a special giveaway for Military Appreciation Month at this link.

Lily Blackwood is kicking off a new series, Clan Kincaid, with THE BEAST OF CLAN KINCAID on Tuesday, May 31, from St. Martin's Press:

A Highland warrior battles to reclaim his birthright in the first of a new series filled with seduction, revenge, and soul-stirring passion…

They call him the Beast—a hardened mercenary whose heart seems as cold as his icy blue gaze. They do not know his true name: Niall Braewick, son of the Laird of Kincaid. It has been years since he escaped into the forest the night his father was murdered. Now he has returned, ablaze with a vengeful hunger. He will gain the MacClaren chief’s trust, gather his clan, and take back his lands. And take the MacClaren’s daughter as well…

Though he pulled her from the river, saving her life, Elspeth has been warned to keep her distance from her father’s hired warrior. He is a barbarian—a shame, as he is far more compelling than the lechers and fools competing for her dowry. Little does she know that, like the castle itself, she is a prize Niall intends to claim…but will he extract blood for blood and possess what is his, or will his enemy’s beautiful, innocent daughter tempt him to forsake his dream of conquest?

Lily Blackwood lives in Texas with her family and mini-menagerie of two cats and a dog. When she isn’t writing, she loves reading, cooking, travel, sleeping and not cleaning her house!

Lily is also an Army brat.  She shared with me her memories of spending Memorial Day at the Corozal American Cemetery in Panama and the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu.

Thank you, Lily, for your family's service!

  7. Today we did double duty for Memorial Day. This morning we represented the Red Cross and canteened ( water, coffee, donuts, blood pressure checks) the ceremony At Mountain Home National Cemetery in TN. Lovely program and talk from the Director Of National Cemeteries. At 6 this evening we served water, coffee, and cake after the ceremony at the Johnson City/Washington County, TN Veterans Memorial. We are honored to participate in these events held to remember those who have fallen in defense of our country.

  8. Great book covers, Lily!

Memorial day use to make me think of bomb pops after our school band played the slew of patriotic songs. Then my brother joined the military and I got a glimpse of what the sacrifice really means for the men and women who serve and their loved ones. Now Memorial Day is truly a day to remember and thank those who protect our freedom.

  12. We don't celebrate Memorial Day. Probably the closest is our National Day/Independence Day celebrations.

  13. Memorial day is a day when I reflect on the loss of my loved ones as well as thanking God for our military both past and present. I usually take flowers to the graves.

  14. Memorial Day this year was spent getting my daughter to Philadelphia for her entry into the Peace Corps. We had a drink and the bartender thanked her for her service. I thought that was wonderful.

  16. I can remember going to the parade and mom mom wearing a big hat and everyone throwing candy into it. But my memory always goes to the members of my sons unit that lost their lives in Iraq.

  20. My fondest memory was on Memorial Day about 10 years ago. Our town was honoring all their past and present day Vets. It was such an emotional moment to see my 88 year old dad being escorted to the stage by my two sons, his grandsons, in their uniforms all being honored. My dad has since past but I see the picture everyday on my mantle.
