Aloha to Caridad Pineiro, Take a Chance Series, and Military Characters

It is my honor to welcome Caridad Pineiro - she is a long standing supporter of military families!  She joins us today with a guest post about military characters ...

When I wrote the first novella in the Take a Chance series, Just One Night, I needed a hero who would only have one night to explore the feelings they were having for someone else.

I decided that a military hero about to leave for active duty would be the perfect choice for that novella and so Jason Hart was born. Jason, Jase to his friends, was inspired by my time in college which had a very large and active ROTC program. I was even lucky enough to attend a formal dance with a Marine ROTC during my freshman year.

With that inspiration, I knew Jase had to be a Marine!

After writing Just One Night, I knew that I had not only explore what happens to Jase and the heroine, Nickie de Salvo, but that I also had to find the perfect woman for Tommy de Salvo, Jase’s best friend and Nickie’s younger brother.

Because I wanted to keep the theme of having only one night to Take a Chance and the military angle, I decided that the heroine in the next novella, One Special Night, was going to be a Navy Corpsman. But it was also important to me that heroine be in the military because women do serve and make sacrifices just as men do. This was my chance to highlight that in the story since the heroine, Jasmine Reyes, is wounded emotionally and physically and I wanted her to have her chance at the happily-ever-after.

This isn’t the first time that I’ve had a heroine who had served in the military. Some of you may recall THE LOST and Marine veteran Bobbie Carrera from that story. That book was dedicated to our military men, women and families and I donated a portion of the proceeds from the sequel, THE CLAIMED, to Hope for the Warriors, a wonderful organization that helps wounded military personnel and their families.

Future novellas in the Take a Chance series will feature other military men and women who will have only one night to risk their hearts in the hopes of finding their soul mates. In ONE LAST NIGHT, Marine Second Lieutenant Trevor Mason will be returning to the fight and have to battle his attraction to a woman from his past. In STAY THE NIGHT, Navy Seal Rafael Castillo is returning home on leave, but he’s not sure that he’ll be welcomed by his wife as the time apart has damaged their relationship.

I hope you will enjoy these sexy stories and seeing how these military men and women find their happily-ever-afters.
