New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia London’s romantic twist on Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Getting her to the wedding on time is the least of his worries...

Kate Preston just moved to New York, but she has to get back to Seattle in time for her best friend's wedding. Joe Firretti is moving to Seattle, and has to get there in time or risk losing his new job. But fate's got a sense of humor. Kate goes from rubbing elbows on a plane with a gorgeous but irritating strange (doggone armrest hog) to sharing one travel disaster after another with him on four wheels. Joe thought he had his future figured out, but sometimes fates has to knock you over the head pretty hard before you see what opportunity is standing in front of you...in a really god-awful poufy bridesmaid dress.

Enter to win a copy of The Bridesmaid here by commenting with a bridesmaid's story - were you a bridesmaid? How many bridesmaids' did you have in your wedding? What's the ugliest bridemaids' dress you've seen in person, on TV, and/or in the movies?  This giveaway is open to residents of the US and Canada. Comments are open through Saturday, October 5, 10 pm in Baltimore. I'll post the winner on Sunday, October 6.

  1. I've never been a bridesmaid so never had to wear any ugly dresses lol. I had two at my wedding and no bows or flounces or capes - pretty pale green, dotted swiss grecian dresses. My daughter had 3 in her wedding, also grecian style in 3 different pastel colors. But I have seen some ugly ones lol.

  2. I've been a bridesmaid, but luckily we got to choose our own dresses. My cousin was the maid of honor years ago and she wore an unflattering pink satin dress with puff sleeves.

  3. I have been a bridesmaid a few times but luckily the dresses were okay. One was lavender, which isn't really my color, but the bride loved it. As for my wedding, I had one maid of honor (no bridesmaids) and I told her she could wear whatever she wanted.

  4. I was a bridesmaid once but I got to pick the dress. At my wedding I just had the maid of honor. Never really saw any ugly dresses in weddings except in pictures.

  5. I was the matron of honor in my sister's wedding and she chose black as the color for the bridesmaids and we all picked our own gown and the only thing we had to do was make it sleeveless and long.

  8. I've only been a bridesmaid once and it was many, many years ago. I was lucky. It was a winter wedding and we wore very beautiful velvet gowns. I only had a matron of honor at my wedding and I allowed her to select her own dress. I haven't attended very many weddings so haven't seen any bad dresses, but have seen some really nasty ones on television - just make me shudder!

  9. I was a bridesmaid in the '80s and the dress was lavender satin. It had giant puffed sleeves and was full length with a bustle held in place by not one, but two giant lavender bows.

  15. I've never been a bridesmaid, but I was a flower girl a few times when I was young. As for ugly bridesmaid dresses, I've never been to a wedding where the ladies wore ugly dresses but I think we've all seen some on TV and in the movies that made us scratch our heads and grimace in horror! LOL!

  16. Haven't had the pleasure of being a bridesmaid but I've been to a handful of weddings. All the dresses I've seen were gorgeous (no ruffles, bows or unflattering styles to be found) But I have seen horrendous ones on TV shows such as TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids" and "Bridezillas" !

  17. I've only been a Bridesmaid once, and our dress was beautiful. It was my younger brother's wedding. No weird stuffs, just plain and simple. :)

  18. I've never been a bridesmaid, but I was maid-of-honor at my brother-in-law's wedding. The bride picked out my dress, and it was beautiful. That is also where I met my husband of 39 years.

  20. I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding in 1970 and it never happened again. The dresses were ugly even by 1970 standard and everyone threw their pictures away.
